The primary focus is on enabling them to secure higher incomes, enhancing access to resources and humanitarian aid, and fortifying their economic resilience. In alignment with this mission, UN Women Pakistan has launched the 'Women's Socio-Economic Resilience project,' funded by the Government of Japan. This project aims to integrate gender perspectives into humanitarian planning cycles and responses, facilitating humanitarian actors in addressing the multifaceted needs of women and girls. Specifically, the initiative targets 49,280 direct beneficiaries in three provinces of Pakistan, spanning nine districts. She received a research grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation on her research for three times in 2013, 2016, and 2019. She received the Chang-Lin Tien Distinguished Leadership Award from the Asia Foundation in 2021. She was appointed as the Vice-Chairperson of the Korean National Commission for UNESCO in May 2021, and the Chairperson of the 5th Science and Technology Basic Plan (2023-2027) Committee of the Republic of Korea in December 2021. The Philippines: Celebrating 30 Years of Women in the Uniformed Services UN Women Asia and the Pacific 2024-02-19 | In 2023, the Republic of the Philippines marked the 30th anniversary of women's entry into the military and other uniformed services. Today, women serve in positions at all levels within the uniformed services, ranging from the Philippine Coast Guard to the Philippine National Police. In December, a summit took place in Manila which brought together representatives from the uniformed services to celebrate this milestone and showcase women’s salient contributions to peacekeeping and security since 1993. Among the delegates at the 30th Anniversary Fellowship of Women in the Uniformed Services in the Philippines were some of the trailblazing women who were among the first to join the country's security and law enforcement institutions. The event was jointly staged by the Philippine Commission on Women and UN Women, supported by the Philippine National Police's Women and Children Protection Center. Safe and Fair: Realizing women migrant workers’ rights and opportunities in the ASEAN region UN Women Asia and the Pacific 2024-02-14 | Across the ASEAN region, SAF worked to protect the rights of Women Migrant Workers, including the right to be protected from all forms of violence. The programme addressed women migrant workers’ vulnerabilities to violence and trafficking, strengthened rights-based and gender-responsive approaches to violence against women and labour migration governance, and supported access to essential services.
