This piece of horror fiction takes the idea of death and grief and presents it in such a raw, inescapable way. Grief is a part of life. It is a strenuous feeling to live with, and King presents it in such a way that is so true it sometimes gives you a sick feeling. It is one of those books that makes you peek around corners before your go around them.It was back in 2019 when I started religiously following my rule of not watching movies until I read the book if I thought I would ever want to read the book. I first practiced this rule with the Pet Sematary 2019 movie. I wanted to watch the movie, but I did not allow myself to until I read the book. I bought the book, and it sat on my shelf for two years until I finally read it this year. I’m not an avid reader of horror, but I’m not opposed to reading this genre of fiction either. Still, King books have a reputation for being terrifying, and because of that, I was not yet ready to read a book such as this. I had read one other Stephen King book (The Mist) before, but that one was nowhere near as horrific.I had planned to read this book for Halloween, but it ended up becoming a November read.Pet Sematary was originally published on November 14th, 1983. There are several different editions of the book, but the Kindle version, which I read, is 396 pages.Horror AspectsI’m not going to sugarcoat it or anything; This book is scary. It makes your stomach drop and your mind spin. The way King writes his books allows the reader to think of the worst, most horrific imagery. As I said before, while reading this book, I would go around corners slower than usual. I’m not a person that believes in supernatural monsters or things like that, but when you read books that feel so immersive as this one, your subconscious forces you to behave this way. It’s sort of an instinct if that makes sense.In terms of horror fiction, this book is not as gory or gruesome as I thought it would be. It is the idea and the suggested imagery that make it one of the most frightening stories I have ever read, watched, or heard. Books that allow readers to imagine the scenes themselves are interesting because how scary the book is depends on the imagination of the reader. When reading this book, I saw some chilling imagery, but half of that was just out of my own imagination. Someone else might not see the scenes as frightening at all.I will mention that if you have a fear of wendigos, this may not be the book for you. Personally, I had not heard of the creature known as the wendigo before reading this book. If I had, it was nothing more than just the word itself. There are some interesting supernatural elements to this book which King gave a deep and almost realistic history to. The connection to real world superstitions and beliefs makes it especially creepy. It’s almost as if the story could be real.In case your wondering, there is a lot of death and discussion of death in this book. Depending on who you are, these discussions may cause you some existential feelings. This was one of the main reasons why I waited so long to read the book. A couple years after initially buying the book, I am very excepting of the idea of death, which is why I decided it was time I read this book. Still, the discussions were unsettling, uncomfortable, and agitating.

A Gentleman in Moscow told a story that exceeded any expectations I had using words and prose that cradled my love for the English language. If I had to quickly summarized how I feel about this masterpiece of a novel, I would say one does not read this book, but rather they experience it. It is a book that contains characters who glow beyond the words on the page, scenes and places that form like memories, and a story that kept my interest despite my doubts that it could. Here is my A Gentleman in Moscow book review.Written by Amor Towles, the A Gentleman in Moscow release date was September 6, 2016. It is a historical fiction that takes place in Moscow, of course, during the Stalin era. The main character Count Alexander Rostov is placed on lifelong house arrest by a Bolshevik tribunal because of a revolutionary poem he wrote during his college years. Instead of receiving the death sentence, he is forced to live within the walls of the Metropol hotel in Moscow. At one point the count describes this punishment as worse than being exiled because after being exiled a person can start a new life and forget the old. The punishment Count Rostov receives is worse, as he describes, because he is imprisoned in his home, causing him to long to explore the city. His life in the hotel leads to the life of another being put in his hands. As described on the back cover, “he must draw on all of his ingenuity to protect the future she deserves.” I first heard of this book a couple years ago, and since then I have been eagerly waiting until it was next in line on my TBR list. Historical fiction books have been my favorite genre for a while, especially because I have not read one that I did not enjoy. I1 was excited to read A Gentleman in Moscow up until I started reading it. After the first chapter or two, I began to worry that I would waste my time reading about a man in Moscow meander around a hotel for 462 pages. This fear that my time was being waster caused me to carefully hunt for any evidence that the story might pick up. Yes, I was enjoying the poetic descriptions and picture perfect details, but I wanted to make sure it was worth reading. A lot of reviews said it was boring, and while I am careful to believe any review (because reviews are opinions, and opinions vary, especially on books), I started to agree with those reviews without finishing the first part of the book. I took a spontaneous break from reading Towles’s masterpiece to read Dune by Frank Herbert in preparation for the movie. After I finished that book, I returned to A Gentleman in Moscow, feeling it was only right I give it more of a chance to make an impression. It’s was like building a relationship with someone that is widely known and widely discussed. I had to push past the negative things I heard and my preexisting reservations before I made a judgement on whether or not it was a relationship worth pursuing. After reading on, I got further acquainted with the style. Just like with a relationship, it is best to see the good aspects in a novel instead of expecting your own aspects. As I read on, I became more invested in my relationship with this book. Soon, I found myself attached to the book. This attachment caused me to purchase the eBook so I could read it in more places and more often. I will come back to the topic of this novel being “slow” later....read the rest on my blog.

Frank Herbert's Dune is one of the most popular sci-fi works ever. As a Star Wars fan, I had to give this book a try. Dune explores a world where a spice drug is the most valuable resource in the universe. This universe has giant sand worms, awesome technology, and not a single computer in sight. A Burning by Megha Majumdar book review Nathans Books 2021-08-25 | Megha Majumdar has written a fantastic debut novel about a young Muslim girl who is wrongly accused for a terrorist attack in India. This book is filled with amazing writing, raw emotion, and great characters. The execution of the theme was perfect as well. If you're looking for a great political thriller book, or even just a beautifully written book in general, you should give this book a read. Herschel Dawson small Boba Fett backpack review Nathans Books 2021-05-04 | This is my review of the Herschel Dawson small Boba Fett backpack. In this video, I decide if it works as a book bag and talk about the backpack's features. This is my Star Wars May 4th video. I would have liked to have done a video where I talk about why I like Star Wars or something, but this is the video I made. I recorded this a while ago, but I just didn't get around to editing. Overall, I really like this backpack. It is now my everyday carry. It fits a lot of stuff and lots of books for being such a small bag. I like how it was inspired by Boba Fett, but not overly obvious. Star Wars is very important to me. I have been watching Star Wars my entire life. The stories are inspirational and also an escape. Reading list book haul 2021 Nathans Books 2021-04-11 | In this video, I go over and explain my reading list. WandaVision series review breakdown (spoilers) Nathans Books 2021-03-09 | This is my full review of WandaVision where I tell you my thoughts on Marvel's latest show. Just to summarize, I think WandaVision is a great first show for Marvel on Disney Plus. It has a great story and plot, but it lack connectivity as piece of Marvel content. Cant Hurt Me book review: the book that pulls you together Nathans Books 2020-09-20 | Not too long ago, I was in a dark place that I felt I could not escape from. Everything in my mind was bothering me and hurting me. In search of a way to become mentally strong, I came across Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins who is a retired Navy seal titled the toughest man in the world. This book helped me lift myself up and go from being lazy and feeling like a victim to accomplishing all of my weekly goals week after week. In this video I will review this book and explain how it helped me. If you feel helpless or weak, you need to read this book. Keep in mind that I am usually a very determined person by nature, but I fell apart when life started hammering at me. Nonetheless, this book gave me the tools to pull myself together.
