I've been looking forward to playing again for the past year, but I was never motivated enough to learn any hard challenges until now. Soulwind was first, which helped me break the two-year mind block I developed over my inactive period. Next came envenomed, which was easy-freesy, and now this. Total transparency, I did not think I was capable of beating amythest challenges anymore without spending over 40,000 attempts, but here we are. More likely than not, this is the easiest challenge in the tier; but is still very difficult to finish.- Terrible visuals- Awful waiting period before every attempt in the cube- Random one space gaps which become the entire difficulty of the level- No playtesting- People telling me how fun and easy this was for them made it much worse when I struggledStill very proud I pulled through but god was this awful. As for difficulty I have a hard time believing this is harder than Philly but I understand how that may not be a common opinion. Philly was just slightly worse given the spammy nature and endurance challenges I could barely put up with. I made a deal with the verifier Ncat back during my playthrough of Dikembe, stating "If I fluke the last ufo, I will beat Soulwind". And of course, being me, I did. Since then I've been haunted by this level since it's so intimidating but I finally had some time to complete it.Experience wise it would have been way smoother had my recording worked the first time. I beat it the night before and it took nearly five more last big wave deaths before I could re-beat it. 521 Yossarian 2023-05-23 | I can't believe it is finally over. 521 has been cleared.Understandably if you don't want to read this the quick summary is this level crushed me like nothing else has come close to. Not once but twice has this level nearly made me quit the game, the first time it was so bad that I quit playing serious challenges for a while. This time I nearly broke my mouse completely and quit the game.Story time: I began playing this level when it came out, hoping to become the first victor. Originally I had called the level "overrated" assuming it was just luck based considering how short it is. I only made it about a week of playing it before I realized just how wrong I was, dropping 13k attempts with close to no progress.Then comes May 18th 2023. I had just finished Dikembe and Ncat planted the idea in my mind to beat 521 by May 21st since the date would be 5/21. I thought that would be a great idea, so like all of the challenges I had done right before it I began relearning it and building consistency. Days 1 and 2 went super smoothly, great new progress and run consticency with an overall feeling of hope giving me more motivation to continue into the worst of it all, May 21st. I had the idea of grinding the level all day until I had finally beat it since my progress of 45% (last click) in my mind seemed to be enough. I was wrong.What continued that day is something I don't want to talk about too much since it really was embarrassing and truly my lowest low when it comes to geometry dash. All I can say is that I've never been more upset, stressed, and tired after playing a level for as long as I did and feeling like there was no end to the journey. I ended the day with around 10k new attempts and only one new run of 45% to show for it.May 22nd I decided to go about my day as normally as possible trying to block out the previous day in my mind. Everything I did went pretty well which definitely helped me sit down and start at it again. Early into the session I got another 45% run which did not help my mindset. Throughout the day I grinded on and off, not allowing myself to get to a point where I couldn't stand the level anymore.Now we get to tonight, same day except technically it's the turn of May 23rd. I've just been calling with Semispace and Nintenfox casually having the first good time I've had in days. They helped distract me as much as possible which really helped me perform better than I had been. The completion itself felt pretty random but that's also due to the level being so inconsistent.Noteworthy events I didn't put in this timeline: 17-100 happened on 5/21 as well which's doing a run from the 2x speed part to 100 which definitely pissed me off a lot since it was a fluke from 42 and covers most of the levels' difficulty. My final opinion on the level? It is good. Very unique concept, S tier song, difficulty that makes it worthwhile, yeah, I'd suggest it. However considering this completion will probably be the most well known video of the level means it may give it a bad rap, which obviously it shouldn't according to the levels actual playability. I was an idiot and messed everything up to make this as bad as possible, and I hope I don't set the precedent for this being a "bad level", in other words I forgive you @NcaT-521 and sorry for being such a drama queen about this level. The clicks are very intense and fast paced causing me to get physically and mentally exhausted very quickly. I started it a while ago hoping to spearhead the 50 Jcack Challenges video with it since at the time I thought it was maybe listworthy. I thought wrong. What ended up happening was one of the most torturess and hopeless experiences I have ever had. This combined with the broken mouse I was using made every session feel like nothing and with every attempt I thought there was even less of a chance I would beat it. It finally brought me to an end where I dropped it and quit playing challenges for nearly two months.Now we zoom back to this last week where I've been playing the game more casually and enjoying myself more with easy extremes and fun challenges. I completed the list I had of easy extremes and didn't know what to do with myself. For no real reason I decided to start playing this again with no real intention of grinding it out. I ended up playing it for a couple hours that day, finally breaking the month long mindblock I had been having with level. Finally during the night session I got a new best of 68%, dying at the last miniwave of the level. Funnily enough my recording didn't work which actually made me incredibly happy and motivated since it didn't happen during my completion. I was estatic letting a couple of my good friends know, then finally maybe 10-20 minutes later I finally verified it.I will say here that I have fully accepted I could be overrating this, I played it inefficiently, with a broken mouse, and without many people to actually support me during it. 27 thousand attempts of the full count were used up during this time, so I could totally understand if it's just me who finds it so difficult. Map of Problematique SHOWCASE | Geometry Dash | Yossarian Yossarian 2023-02-20 | I can't believe this is finally finished. This level has quite an origin story dating back as early as 2 years ago. To my knowledge (although Ncat knows more about this than I do) @martykahuna began creating a layout inspired by Blade of Justice by Manix and LazerBlitz which used the song "Map of the Problematique" by @muse. This version (as recalled by Ncat) had an opening robot, possible ship section, and then a tight wave section which would later be reused in a challenge now known as "wave TECHNIC".A long time after this myself, @NcaT-521 , and @HaydenDom sought to finish the level that had been started so long ago since we all absolutely love the song and the vibes it has with wave technic. It took a long time with many reworks, balancing, structuring, and so much more. I am very excited and happy to present to all you one of my personal greatest achievements, MAP OF THE PROBLEMATIQUE!I would like to mention again that a version of this level will be verified by @gdcrisis who I originally got in touch with since out of the blue he tweeted about his love for Muse and their amazing albums. Was waiting on the final thumbnail from Tomson for months but he is seemingly left the community and has continued to ghost me for months. That being said this still was a pretty rough experience that I'm happy to be over with. Honestly getting past this just feels amazing, if this level couldn't stop me what could? Regardless of how I feel now this is easily the worst level I've played also being one of the most difficult. I initially wanted to do this soley to have it moved down on the list but after almost having my GDSR top rank taken from me I had to finish it. This level made me nearly quit gd twice because of how much pain and torture it caused. Never play this, trust me it will most likely not be worth it.And now the cherry on top, @AnixGD now has to play slowfastwave so make sure to wish him luck!
