I had used AI (DALL-E 2, specifically) to quickly bring to life some draft versions of what the next album artwork could look like, and used them in the original upload because I thought they looked cool, and suited the general dystopian tech vibe of Riikira and her music. The intent was always to commission the final album artwork, giving the artist helpful materials of what I had in my head, because for better or worse, the idea was conveyed this way much easier than words could. Being somewhat fascinated at the time with the concept of computers making stuff "out of thin air", I wasn't really aware that these things were trained on real existing artwork; without giving it a whole lot of thought, just figured that AI learns over time what things look like, and what artwork is, without really asking how it comes to those results.In short, I was aware that AI imagery was getting big, and that artists were worried, but not aware of the scope of theft going on to form these models. "Berry's getting punched again," they'd laugh, and soon her real name went nearly unused in favor of "Berry Punch."The story spread, and the giggles behind hooves and smug glances towards her multiplied whenever she might be found in a public place capable of serving drink. Worn by the stereotype, Berryshine started avoiding alcohol altogether, becoming hesitant to enter bars or parties.Months following her previous visit, Berryshine plucks up the courage to visit one of her old favorite bars, hoping to Celestia that none of the friends that teased her previously might be there. Maintaining her sobriety and sipping on juice, she catches up with the bartender, taps her hoof against the barstool to the music playing overhead... and then her ears give a dreadful prick towards a distinct and unfortunately familiar giggle from the booth in the back corner. When I approached him with a tiny demo for this track, his first question was "how much would you be willing to let me mess with?" I told him to go ham and not long after, he'd transformed the riffs I sent him into this massive choon, completely blowing me away in the process.
