I colorized and restored these films, which date back to 1926-1930. This film footage is very rare and extremely high quality. The scenes include:Construction of beautiful Ritz Theater, 18 West 4th Street in downtown Tulsa OK. Architect John Eberson can be seen. Eberson, of New York City, is known for the his movie palace designs in the atmospheric theatre style. He designed over 500 theatres in his lifetime, earning the nickname "Opera House John". The Ritz, with 1400 seats, was one of downtown Tulsa's finest movie palaces and stood on 4th Street where there is now a Dominos Pizza and parking garage. The Ritz was razed in 1963.Amelia Earhart visits Tulsa and stays at a house which is now the Tulsa Garden Center on South PeoriaGreenwood District 5 years after race massacre. Black businessmen are shown as well as destroyed church and Greenwood AvenueCharles Lindbergh visits Tulsa to promote need for new airport. In the parade car with Lindbergh is Tulsa Mayor Newblock, and Duncan McIntyre owner of McIntyre Airport at Admiral and Sheridan. McIntyre Field was Tulsa's main airport of that day and Lindbergh's visit encouraged Tula leaders to build Tulsa Municipal Airport (later Tulsa International)Amelia Earhart visits Tulsa and stays at a house which is now the Tulsa Garden Center on South Peoria.Golfers Horton Smith and Walter Hagen golf at Tulsa Country Club in west Tulsa. Large crowd. Unknown as to what the tournament or exhibition was. Public skating session at Tulsa Coliseum which was downtown on Elgin between 5th and 6th streets. Tulsa Oilers hockey players would often participate in these public skating sessions, where they would mingle with public and help them around the ice.Bunion Derby foot race passes through Tulsa on Route 66. Bunion Derby was a race that began in Los Angeles and followed Route 66 to Chicago, then on to New York. For the first time since 1949, the Indianapolis 500 was not recognized on the World Championship calendar. The race celebrated the 50th anniversary of the first Indy 500 in 1911.A.J. Foyt took the lead with three laps to go and won his first (of four) Indy 500 victories by a margin of 8.28 seconds.A notable story included the appearance of two-time defending Formula One World Champion Jack Brabham from Australia, who drove the race in a low-slung, British built Cooper powered by a Coventry Climax engine. It would be the first notable post-war appearance of a rear-engined car, and within five years the rear-engined revolution would take over the Speedway.

In this 2000 TV story, Jack interviewed former TV news director Forrest Brokaw, and Nancy Hughes, a bride whose picture was placed inside the car in 57.The car, a desert gold and sand dune white two-tone sport coupe which displayed only four miles on its odometer, was entombed as part of the city of Tulsa's "Tulsarama" Golden Jubilee Week festivities celebrating Oklahoma's 50th year of statehood. The unnamed vehicle was intended to be a prize awarded upon the vehicle's unearthing to the individual, or their descendant, who came nearest to guessing Tulsa's population in 2007. A matching automobile had been awarded in a separate contest a few days prior. Nicknamed Miss Belvedere by a member of the committee organizing the 2007 event, the car was unearthed on June 14, 2007, during the state's centennial celebration and publicly unveiled the next day. The enclosure – built of poured in place concrete and sprayed with pneumatically applied gunite – was advertised as having been built to withstand a nuclear attack. However, over the years, water had gotten into the vault which submerged the entire vehicle, causing cosmetic and structural damageEfforts were made to stabilize Miss Belvedere's condition, including essential suspension repairs, with the hope of placing her in a museum. After being stored for ten years, the car was accepted by the Historic Auto Attractions Museum in Roscoe, Illinois, and shipped in June 2017.

Boulder Ave had one of the oldest organs in Oklahoma, and was redesigned by Adah Robinson who is famous for her work on Tulsa's iconic art deco Boston Avenue United Methodist Church. In April 2023, plans were announced to transform the building into a concert and recording venue called “The Dome.”

Oil Expo Tulsa OK Tulsa Films 2023-04-05 | The International Petroleum Exposition (IPE) started in 1923 to display the technology in the oil industry, and to provide a venue for oilmen to purchase equipment. Tulsa, Oklahoma, was chosen as its home. Initially known as the "International Petroleum Exposition and Congress," was held in 1923. Despite heavy rains and a martial law situation, the initial event drew enough attention to warrant being continued.The 1949 Oil Show at the Tulsa Fairgrounds that you see here, was the first IPE after World War II. It attracted more than three hundred thousand visitors. Among the exhibitors seen in this film are Continental, Mid Continent, Reed, Vinson Supply, Bovaird, Bethlehem Supply. The retro show, sponsored by Pepsi, was similar to Dick Clark's American Bandstand. This was when KOTV's studios were at 3rd and Frankfort in downtown Tulsa. This is rare film as Dance Party was aired live and not typically recorded.In this clip the band is the Rogues 5 featuring vocalist I.J. Ganem, Randy Ess, and drummer Jamie Oldaker . Jamie would later play with Eric Clapton, Bob Seger and Leon Russell. The showed was hosted in this film by Lee Bayley of KAKC, a popular top 40 Tulsa radio station in the 60s.This 16mm film was enhanced by Jack Frank Productions, using speed correction and color correction tools.
