By diffusing I am able to dry my hair and still retain my curls. I had been seeing several product reviews on the decadence collection and even though most of these reviews were on girls with a looser texture than mine, I was curious to see how the products would work in my hair. Curlbox had this amazing dope deal sale and thankfully I was able to get these products at a very affordable price.My fave was the conditioner - creamy, moisturized and really made my curls pop. The supercream is ok but doesn't give me same long lasting curls I've gotten accustomed to. the No-Poo was nice but nothing really remarkable . Stretched Curlformer Curls on Natural Hair with Mizani | MissT1806 MissT1806 2015-12-14 | Hey guys, in this video I'm using how I installed my curlformers using a few new Mizani products. I attended the Mizani True Textures Launch event in NYC Oct 26th and received a few full sized products in my swag bag. I was excited to try them and did a few times before noticing that on the curl enhancing lotion in the ingredient list, it has "sodium lauryl suflate." Why? At this point in the game, I have way too many options available to continue using a product with chemicals that have been shown to be damaging to the hair but also toxic to the body. So I will not be using that particular product in the future. But I know not all naturals take such a radical approach with these things. So let me know do ingredients affect you decision in buying particular products? How I Prep My Hair For Protective Styling | Natural Hair | MissT1806 MissT1806 2015-08-02 | Hey guys, most naturals would tell you they have tried protective styling at least once. Whether you are simply trying to give your hair a break or you have length retention goals to fully reap the benefits of protective styles you must start with good hair prep. I have highlighted four steps I use but I could not include everything in the video so here are a few more tips:* You can pre-poo with any oils of your choice but coconut oil, especially when used overnight is awesome. "Coconut oil is able to bind to the natural protein structure of the hair, which helps the hair retain its natural moisture content and reinforces the hair fiber, making it stronger." Read more on coconut oil: http://www.curlynikki.com/2012/10/wash-day-preparation-coconut-oil-bun.html* The apple cider vinegar in the shea moisture shampoo does a cook job of clarifying the scalp. If you strictly co-wash and the though of making your own mud wash/mask scares you, then use an apple-cider vinegar rinse post co-wash to get your scalp and hair as clean as you can. * Striking the balance between protein and moisture is crucial to healthy hair. Generally, you would follow a protein treatment with a moisturizing deep conditioning treatment. However, the protein pack I'm using in the video does both. This is because it very mild. Depending on the state of your hair (damage or just over processed wear and tear) you could need more or less protein. Be sure to follow package instructions carefully as if not used correctly a protein treatment can actually cause damage to the hair. Definitely lived up to the 4-in-1 description as a cleanser, conditioner, detangler and nourisher. It was light and easy to spread through my hair and as I applied it to my hair I could feel the slip. I could detangle my hair nicely which is generally not something I'd expect from a co-wash. My hair felt clean and soft. I also liked that it is very lightly scented almost refreshing. I did notice that it didn't have much of a lather which probably had me using more than I needed trying to adequately work it in through my hair. *** My biggest caveat however is that after 2 wash day sessions I've already used about 1/3 of the 8.5oz bottle which means I might only get 6-7 washes out of the bottle making it pretty expensive in the long run.Curl Charisma Conditioner - 8.50z - $23This was probably my least fave product:( Being specifically for curly to wavy hair and touted as a curl definer I found my curls wanting more. It is thicker than the shampoo but equally lightly scented. I liked the thickness and the light scent. What threw me off was how it left my hair feeling. It hardly hard any slip (which is a must for me in a conditioner to ease with detangling since that's when I usually comb through my hair) and it felt more like a shampoo than a conditioner. My hair felt thirsty (dry?) as I smoothed the product through. I followed the directions and let it sit at least 2mins (and more) as I worked it in. As I combed the product through my hair I felt a lot of resistance. Interestingly however, although my hair felt "dry" I noticed minimal shedding as I combed it. Dope! It was like my hair was strengthened. I also didn't notice any significant curl definition difference than I'm used to with other conditioners. After 2 washes, I've used about 1/4 of the bottle. Leave-in Defining Creme - 6oz - $18Loved this product! It is light and conditions my curls without weighing my hair down. It does a very good job of moisturizing and defining my hair. My curls were so shiny, moisturized, soft and defined even on day 4 days later. I believe it's light enough to combine with other products for twists etc which is awesome and with my color treated hair, its definitely a welcomed addition to my product arsenal. Definitely worth repurchasing.Rosarco Oil - 1oz - $24 Perfectly lightweight. Like that it didn't weigh down my hair or leave it greasy. My hair is shiny and moves around freely. A little goes a long way. I've been using it almost very other day and it still looks brand new like I just got it today.

How to Get Perfect Bantu Knot Out Curls | Natural Hair | MissT1806 MissT1806 2015-04-12 | The ABC’s of Bantu Knot OutsAfter years of wearing Bantu knot outs, I’ve learned a few things that guarantee me success each time:1. Start on stretched dry hair. A blow out will often give you the best bouncy bantu knot out curls but a well-detangled old twist/braid out will work as well. Never set your knots on wet or damp hair because chances are they will not dry and you will be left with big frizzy hair the following morning. 2. Go for non-water based products. My favorite is whipped nut butter such as shea butter. If using a water-based product, be light handed. You will want to reduce the amount of moisture added to the hair while setting the knots to ensure complete dryness the following day. This will minimize any chances of frizz. To the butter you may add a little gel for some added hold. Some gels have water so remember to be light-handed as well. Smooth the product through your hair focusing especially on the ends so that the ends are well moisturized. 3. Start twisting the section of hair for the bantu knot at least an inch away from your roots. This will prevent you from putting too much tension on your scalp, making your bantu knots too tight and painful to sleep on. 4. While most people wrap their bantu knots by winding each revolution underneath the previous one, I find that, that technique makes the knots too tight. I therefore, focus on wrapping only the last couple of revolutions underneath the previous ones to tuck away the ends and secure the bantu knot. If your hair is shorter you may need to use a bobby pin to hold your knots in place. February MealPrep Series: Week 4 - Pan Seared Steak & Chicken w/ Barlsotto | MissT1806 MissT1806 2015-02-22 | This is the final video in the February Mealprep Series. We are making Pan seared steak, chicken and "barlsotto" with steamed mixed vegetables. Instead of trying a traditional risotto I decided to make it in my slow cooker and use barley instead. I prefer the stovetop quick version but this was satisfying as well. I eyeball all my recipes so unfortunately cannot provide exact measurements. Use the steps for inspiration.
