Just wow. Honestly can't believe I finished this one so quickly either. Like holy shit, I did NOT expect to be here writing the description for the final "normal" installment in this series already! The track name's a play on "Trouble In Paradise," the name I gave the "oh fuck something has gone wrong" track. Bit silly but I liked it ye. Anyway! As some of you may know from the comments on the previous tracks, I originally intended this to be a sort of march-esque track. But as I actually analyzed Brothership's tracks, and tried desperately to find ANYTHING march-like that Sakamoto had composed, I realized fairly quickly that it wouldn't fit and would be far too big of an undertaking. So I changed direction to what's presented here. This track is in the same key as Fightin' Shanty, with the opening being basically "Fightin' Shanty but off" on purpose to sell the whole "oh god something's VERY wrong here" vibe that Offandon initially gives the player. Offandon's motifs are also featured *prominently* here, one of them even replacing the ending brass refrain. Completely omitted accordion from the instrumentation, much like Zok to the System, and I heavily mutated the chord progression (and the parts of the Fightin' Shanty melody that I used) to match Offandon's chord progression. And although I didn't really incorporate much (if any) of Wayaway Island's track, I *did* add the SMB3 Castle part as a short countermelody of sorts. This wound up becoming its own delightfully fucked up beast, and I couldn't be happier with it. Hope y'all enjoy! :3
P.S. There's still one more Brothership battle track in the works, but it's not one that *I* am arranging. It's something that I've commissioned from @hi_im_shade445 (soundcloud.com/hello-im-shade.) It's already sounding great so far from the WIP I've been sent, and you guys are gonna be in for a treat! Like I knew it was gonna be quick, since I'd already transcribed Fortress Zokket for Resist The Power of Glohm, but *WTF YOU _MEAN_ I HAVE IT DONE RIGHT NOW!?!?* Anyway yeah it be Zokket hours! The one flute trill I put in here was a royal pain in the ass to make work, seeing as Mixcraft has recently decided "I'll be inconsistent with how much I obey your instrument's keyswitches actually!" Still not sure how to fix it but yeah. Anyway! Considering the intended vibe of this dungeon as a "final" area, I figured it being intense like this would fit really fit. Of course I snuck a toy piano in here cause _goober,_ but there are still bits of Fightin' Shanty in this track that AREN'T the drums if you listen closely. (It's even in the same key as Fightin' Shanty too, E minor!) ;) Am incredibly happy with this, especially given the UNHINGED turnaround time on completing it. I did NOT expect to have this done so damn soon, let alone before I go back to work next week, and be as proud of it as I am. But here we are: the Color-Full Sea battle theme! The idea for this was originally a LOT different. I intended to go full-on big band, ala something like the TTYD remake's Chapter 6 battle theme. I wound up stumbling my way into something more overtly jazzy/swing-based though, and I was like "...hey wait a sec, this ain't too shabby!" So a ton of trial and error later, especially with the chords and percussion, and I made it to the point that I'm writing the very description you're reading. Incorporated a couple motifs from Lottacoins and Slippenglide, and Allsand is primarily represented through instruments (sitar and flute.) Also incorporated some calliope cause Merrygo funni. Upon remembering the existence of this game's speedrun community though, I knew exactly where I wanted to pivot. This run was... quite the roller coaster, to say the least. From glitch bounties (which I ultimately cancelled,) to fighting the Corps for 3 hours, and yet more the video goes over! Not as many "funny" moments to highlight here (as a lot of tricks required a good deal of concentration,) making the fully edited video slightly shorter, but the actual script is WAY longer than the one for the Bros Attack/Battle Plugs challenge. I had *_far_* more to cover in this one. The whole ride was a wild experience, yet also one that I don't regret. Started receiving a lot of the mental help that I've been needing, and also took an LOA from work to focus on that journey. And on the whole? Admittedly not sure how much time will pass between any subsequent installments to this "series," though. I was only able to complete this one as quickly as I did due to a combination of motivation and... well, being a leave of absence for my mental health. I suffered a mental snap at work near the start of May, and I've been seeing a therapist and psychiatrist since. Been taking medication for my now-diagnosed bipolar though, and I've been doing a LOT better since. Will be heading back to work within the next couple weeks though, so that means my free time will be decreasing once again. Anyhow! This was an incredibly ambitious idea on my part. Blending together aspects of Skorcheen, Slippenglide AND Heatfreeze's themes was a very tall order, but I felt it was the only proper way to approach this sea's music. Knew right from the get-go that I wanted a 3/4 section to more directly represent Slippenglide, and getting the Fightin' Shanty elements in that section retranscribed to the new time signature was a fun challenge. But of course I also had the majority 4/4 sections, which posed their own challenges. The backing guitar was a *_royal pain in the ass_* to get transcribed to a satisfactory level, and the melodies and their respective harmonies were no slouches either. On top of that, I also made very deliberate instrument choices here. The "soft" woodwinds (flute/oboe/english horn) are directly derived from Slippenglide, and the "harsh" brass and rock organ were taken from Skorcheen, just to give some examples. On the whole, I'm incredibly proud of how this turned out, and I hope y'all enjoy! :3 ------------ Based on Motifs by Hideki Sakamoto and Takayasu Seo Arranged by MysteryMa'am Drum Transcription by Wisteria Bird StudiosMario & Luigi Brothership | Fight For Those Weve Lost | Reclusa World Battle ThemeMysteryMaam2025-06-12 | GO PLAY BROTHERSHIP IF YOU SOMEHOW HAVEN'T ALREADY, IT'S AN AMAZING GAME AND YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

This track came as a result of that discussion, and depending on how my motivation treats me, there may be more to come. I was *especially* motivated by my two challenge runs as well, surprisingly enough, cause *good LORD* I got sick of hearing the same battle theme during the grinds those challenges presented. I love Fightin' Shanty and didn't understand that criticism before, but needless to say I do now lol. This was a ton of fun to put together. Really wanted to capture the despair and utter hopelessness of the Reclusa World track, and it wound up turning out more delightfully chaotic than I could have ever imagined it would. Reclusa World in and of itself is already a musically chaotic track, to the point that referencing key scales was actually little-to-no help for figuring out chords, and I definitely think I managed to turn up that discordance to a fitting degree. And again, big thanks to Kristian for picking out the vast majority of the drums for me, they were easily my biggest bottleneck by a country mile and he was a HUGE help. I also remembered Sorrel telling me that someone they were watching play the game had been challenged to beat certain bosses without battle plugs, so then I thought "why not combine the two restrictions and do it as one run? what could POSSIBLY go wrong?" ...A lot. A lot can go wrong, in surprising ways. I've admittedly still been suffering extreme mental health issues, and that'll probably be ESPECIALLY apparent in certain segments of the raw footage. I've always wanted to do a challenge run, but didn't know if I would ever be able to pull off a "serious" script for one. Upon watching and really falling in love with @seer6251's videos though (especially his challenge runs that first introduced me to his stuff,) it showed me the benefit of taking a more "unhinged" approach with this video, and the script came to me fairly quickly once I turned the brakes off and allowed myself to put just. Literally whatever I wanted in here, professionalism be damned. Memes galore, a lot of music I've been brainrotting over, the works. This was WAY harder than even regular Pipegunk was, and no joke? It was the hardest part, no contest. The successful attempt for Glohm Pipegunk took me 1.5x longer than my successful attempt at Pipegunk's original fight in the main story. One MAJOR contributor to that is the Glohm-specific that Pipegunk has: the counter gimmick. Even with me having a 12 level lead in this attempt (him being LV43 vs Mario & Luigi being LV55,) he STILL hits like a truck and gets to do it _twice as often._ Will go slightly more in depth when I get to this in the full challenge video, but in the meanwhile, I hope y'all enjoy the results of my self-torment! :3Resist The Power of Glohm! Some of the game footage here was taken from @ninbanyan, but a lot of it is from my own personal recordings! My new capture card has rly been serving me well :3 ------------ Lyrics: drive.google.com/file/d/1X7J8QlWr2nHvFCuZieohQCZLnn5hYldX/view?usp=sharing ------------ Yup, you're not reading the title wrong. For the first time ever, I have fully lyricized something... and it's a track I arranged to boot! Definitely wouldn't consider myself an expert lyricist by any means, so don't expect many (if any) more videos of this type from me, but this was really satisfying to put together. Zokket/Cozette and their dynamic is genuinely so fascinating, a real Nona/Maligula type situation with a lot of very fascinating things to unpack (especially when you dig deep into the clues we get about Concordian society even *outside* of the Cozette flashbacks.) Been genuinely brainrotting over Cozette especially, and I poured a lot of that into the lyrics here. All of her Glohm... all of that hidden frustration, rage, sadness... It's all here. Because in a twisted way, Zokket is Cozette at her most honest throughout the whole game. I could go on all day about these two fuckers, and I honestly might even try to do a video essay explaining why at some point. For now though, I'll cut my yap session short. Zokket's voice is inherently low and growl-y, so singing with it was a REALLY fun challenge, even if I shredded my throat for a wee bit afterward. And again, Lunar did a fantastic job on the art. Y'all should check them out! And uhhhhhh ye I hope y'all enjoy. :3 ------------ Zokket: MysteryMa'am Lyrics, Audio, Video: MysteryMa'am Art: Mutedeclipse Additional Footage: NinbanyanTHE ENTIRE FUCKING PIPEGUNK FIGHT (No B Presses or Luigi Logic) | Mario & Luigi BrothershipMysteryMaam2025-04-10 | Yup, I have a capture card now! And one of the first things I'm doing with it... is a stupid fuckass challenge run, cause why not? I remembered all the comments about Luigi being "too automated" around the time of release, so I was like "well fuck you what if we removed the B button entirely?" ...And with that, I'd made the most insane challenge I've ever started so far. Have only gotten to the Gulchrock Sea, so this isn't the last you will be seeing of the run. Just for a *small* taste of what you're in for: shops require the B button to be exited. No other button works for closing a shop menu. Since that would add unnecessary B presses to the counter, shops are banned in their entirety. By extension, this means fishing and any/all related quests are banned, and crafting quests for Billdit/Maykit are banned. So yup, by committing to a minimum B button press challenge, you're committing to a scavenge-only run of Brothership too!! The Pipegunk fight was easily the most painful boss fight I've done so far, and even after *knocking it down to easy mode,* it was STILL a brutal slog. This might be possible on normal mode as well, but would likely have WAY less room for error than this winning attempt already does. I'm only one woman, and have my own limits. This is a cutscene (technically *batch* of cutscenes) that I've wanted to dub for quite a fat minute. Zokket and Cozette are such fun characters to voice, but I knew that I would *not* be able to pull off a good Connie, and this wasn't a one-liner that I could quickly throw smth together for like with Ireen in the Extension Corps Desolatt dub. Connie needed a VA that could voice her well. And well, in comes Sorrel! They were awesome to work with and did a great job in the role. Defo hope to work with em again. Also you may notice that I didn't just use music directly ripped from the gamefiles this time. That's because... the cutscene track that originally played here in the base game would have been TOO. DAMN. REPETITIVE. So I put together an extended arrangement of it to use here instead. I plan to post it here to YouTube in the coming days, but you can listen to it in full on SoundCloud in the meantime. soundcloud.com/mysteryman_17/useless-efforts-extended

"Internal File" Render: drive.google.com/file/d/1K8junthPSJPyTbTYGjFGtMw6vxf6Be6p/view?usp=sharing ------------ Motifs: -Final Gambit -Fortress Zokket -Beatdown of Brotherly Proportions -Chase to the End! -A Tragic Past -The Soli-Tree -The End of the World ------------ I genuinely really enjoy Mario & Luigi Brothership, honestly the best overall game in the series hands down imo! ...One missed opportunity, however, was in the music department. Among other areas that could have been a wee bit better, Zokket's battle later in the game doesn't have a unique theme, instead using the normal "major boss" theme (the track I call "Beatdown of Brotherly Proportions.") I actually wound up getting inspired enough to try to fix this issue myself, pulling a Bowser's Inside Story DX on this son of a bitch. (Getting this laid out structure-wise was admittedly a bit of a pain in the ass btw, figuring out the proper tempo and key for some of these motifs was pretty damn hard ngl lol.) Knew from the moment I started making this track that "Fortress Zokket" was going to be my basis point of choice. Its jazzy nature was not only fun to fuck around with, but also puts it in line with the stylings of the actual battle themes in Brothership proper. Really glad I got an excuse to use my jazzy libraries again, including my recent *actually legal* acquistions of the ProjectSAM Swing libraries. And for once, my percussion track doesn't suck total ass! :D Included "Beatdown of Brotherly Proportions" here to not only reference the major boss theme, but also to compliment the jazzy styling with the growling brass tidbit I borrowed specifically. The more somber section with "A Tragic Past" and "Chase to the End!" was a bit of a happy accident tone-wise, but it wound up working out wonderfully, especially considering I was treating this as the "final" boss theme. By the point in the story you fight Zokket, the twist with him and Cozette has already been revealed to the player, so someone going into the battle fresh would expect this to be the ultimate conclusion to said twist. And of course, "The Soli-Tree" and "The End of the World" are quoted here to represent Reclusa, the *true* main villain of the story that has actually been the one pulling the strings. Genuinely incredibly happy with how this turned out as a whole, and I hope y'all enjoy! :3 (P.S. The reason I also credit Takayasu Seo down below is cause, after doing some research to figure out what tf a music preparator is, I found out it's highly likely she could have made critical changes to the motifs and/or arrangements in Brothership proper, to the point she deserved credit alondgside Hideki Sakamoto for the OST.) ------------ Based on Motifs by Hideki Sakamoto and Takayasu Seo Voice Acting and Arrangement by MysteryMa'amMario & Luigi Brothership | Zokkets Extension Corps (Desolatt Island) | Voice DubMysteryMaam2024-12-09 | The footage I used was taken from @ninbanyan's playthrough of the game. youtube.com/watch?v=oZVk8VHBl_0
I've fairly recently finished Mario & Luigi Brothership, and am p close to 100% on my current file. And HOLY SHIT THIS GAME IS SO DAMN GOOD!!!! XD But uhhhh yeah sorry my uploads have still been VERY inconsistent on this channel. I've mostly been focusing on my presence elsewhere -- when I've had the motivation TO focus on it, that is. A rough draft of this video was ready around late May, but I initially wanted to do something more ambitious with the visuals (a full-on animated visualizer.) ...Money issues, however, have constantly plagued me with the sheer amount of trouble they've given me, and I knew I just couldn't afford however much it might have wound up costing. I only recently decided to finally scale back the BIG BANG portion of this video so y'all could hear the dub. I've already done my long nerdy ramble about BIG BANG over on the SoundCloud upload, you guys can check out the description there if you want hear my thought process behind a lot of the decisions in the rearrangement. The dub was a *ton* of fun to do. I don't do SFX work often, but this one turned out ok on that front, all things considered. My Spamton voice has always been based on Grunkle Stan, and I got to push it to its absolute limits with the voiceover, both for the cutscene and the lil interjections I added in BIG BANG. I also got to come up with a VERY cursed headcanon voice for Charkis that somehow just... works. All the Thomas peeps in my audience prolly know *exactly* what tree I barked up there. ;) Anyhow ye, this was a ton of fun to put together as a whole, and I really hope y'all enjoy! :3 ------------ "The Castelet" Originally by Hodgepodge (soundcloud.com/realhodgepodge) Original "BIG BANG" Concepts by Saster and The Winterer Based on Motifs by Toby Fox, Toadie (@dashingtoadie / soundcloud.com/dashingtoadie-the-sequel) and The Winterer "Piano Draft" MIDI Reference for "BIG BANG" by The Winterer Arrangements and Voices by MysteryManYTP: Thomas Gets No BitchesMysteryMaam2023-12-31 | Been a long time since I posted one of THESE things, eh? For charters/modders: tempo starts off as 91, but switches to 110 at about 31.681 secs into the song. Time signature for the whole song is 4/4. ------------ Story: Boyfriend rummages through Snatcher's things in his tree. The Subcon Minions notice and quickly try to get him to leave, figuring Snatcher will be mad. (He is, but not enough to actively hunt down a nuisance that's already leaving.) BF is walking out of Subcon Forest as heard in the very start of the song, the old stuff he rummaged through still fresh in his mind as he takes in the once-beautiful scenery. But all of a sudden (at 0:31 in the track,) he trips one of the forest's many traps and is dragged into Snatcher's contract-signing dimension. Snatcher pops up excitedly, looking forward to tormenting someone with the prospect of menial labor (followed by death!) ...But then he sees that it's BF *again,* and is basically like "bruh..." But hey, a soul's a soul, so he's just gonna get this over with. Or so he thinks. ------------ So... yup, as you can tell, I've given this track (especially the chromatic) some MAJOR finetuning!! Given my new computer is in a functional state, I've been able to use some new things I've gotten (including the Kontakt Library Factory 2 that I've gotten with an *actually* legit copy of Kontakt 7!) This made working with ProjectSAM Swing a bit of a pain -- for obvious reasons, but I was able to work around the demo limitations well enough lol. Also can I just say: MusicBook is FUCKING AWESOME. The dobro and banjo I implemented here are *both* from there, and were free!!! In addition to those, I decided to make use of a royalty free drum loop that I got via a Humble Bundle, and also replaced the synth strings with a preset from the Mercury-6 VST from Cherry Audio. Not much to say that I don't already on the main post, so I hope you guys enjoy!! (P.S.
