UDOT Conducts Automated Vehicle Readiness Study Utah Department of Transportation 2022-07-15 | UDOT partnered with VSI Labs to conduct an Automated Vehicle (AV) Readiness Study to evaluate the compatibility of Utah roads with automated vehicle technology. The study was conducted by a team with two vehicles, each equipped with advanced camera, lidar, radar and positioning systems which are the technologies used for vehicle automation. These vehicles were driven on different roadway segments throughout the state to record data from these systems.
Timelapse: 1.1 million pound bridge slide on I-15 Utah Department of Transportation 2022-07-15 | Our crews slid a 1.1-million-pound bridge on I-15 in Cedar City using hard work, ingenuity and a little bit of dish soap on July 13, 2022. This is a unique project because the bridge we’re sliding has actually been used as both the northbound and southbound bridge in the last year. We built a center bridge in between two I-15 bridges so we could shift traffic onto that bridge while demolishing the old ones and rebuilding the northbound bridge. Now, that center bridge is officially the southbound bridge.

The projects included removing all stoplights and separating Bangerter Highway from the local cross streets, improving traffic flow and safety for drivers in western Salt Lake County.
