It's about that time of year for me to quit my job and start drinkin' again and fwup! my life up like I've done so many times before and I'd love to sit around and convey all my thoughts and emotions to you but lyricism isn't necessarily linguistic by nature, yes my love... it's just what you told yourself that you've heard
We found ourselves caught between a dead body dragged out of the room next door and blood stains on the ceiling in the place we'd stayed the week before and I know when I find myself back there how much I'monna miss you but I'm still leavin' here tonight and I ain't sayin' goodbye... ladadadadadadeda dadadadadada
So I'm sittin' here now, my throat filled with absence, and the nylon strings beside me tuned to our breath as one they speak like a voice so old that no one would recognize the dialect but you know that feelin', you know what it meant to us this your song, 24 breaths long and all beauty contained in everything I find in you, I find in you
I don't love you anymore, but I'm still in love with what I adored in you...

tatg awl~ Blood Stained CuffsI Was Once In A Punk Band broken string editionBen Nigunim2023-07-27 | String breaks... power through it. This video was from a show in 2011. There were wonderful folks there and it was at City Heights Free Skool in SD. I don't remember who filmed it?, if you see this and have any issues, please send me an email. I shouldn't be too hard to find.
I broke a string during this song and the looks of my bandmates figuring it out is pretty funny. It was a pretty good night! Song is in F# minor.

Oh Thank You! Thank you for coming out tonight! It's been so nice to see you! It's been nice to see the living, it's been nice to see the dead, it's been nice to hear the laughter, it's been nice to hear the voices in my head... Oh ho! Thank you! Thank You! I might say only for the mangled bodies piled in front of me! I might say only lit for them! But my fingers and strings they bleed together on this piled heap, when my guitar, it bleeds for you, you know that nothin' ever ends nothin' ever ends nothin' ever ends... Oh ho! Thank You! And Good Night! Good Night!
and Thank You For All The Sweetness Lou. John, you're the best.
Wow, that is crappy quality footage. You can't make out much, but that is Franz Kafka's gravestone at 1 minute or so.
I don't own any rights to the pics of the Velvets, Nico, Lou and Laurie, Warhol + Factory folk nor the Whitman quote at the end, but hit me up if you need one of your photos removed. I'll tell you a couple true stories though. You don't have to believe me, but whatever. I have a friend that is related to to Lou Reed. She never met him before he passed, probably wouldn't have, but they're distant cousins, third or something. Anyways, her aunt saw Lou Reed once in NYC and walked over and tried to introduce herself saying hi and we're related through so and so. Lou turned to look at her, tipped down his sunglasses to show his eyes and said "nice try honey", then turned away and ignored her. Classic Lou?
I did get to meet John Cale once, well, shake his hand and lie to him. I'd finagled my way backstage at a show with him and The Tiger Lillies by pretending to be Edward Gorey asking to see Martyn Jaques. I should have kept my mouth shut after being led right to him, but effed that up and as I was leaving, John had finished his set and was walking back to the area where I was. I shook his hand and told him he played a good set. I should have just said you win some, you lose some, but shoot, I messed up again. His set was bad. His voice was shot. I walked out. I love the guy and love a lot of his work, but that wasn't a very good set. I really do love the dude though. From working, experimenting and playing with folks like La Monte Young, Tony Conrad and Angus Maclise to producing incredible Patti Smith, The Modern Lovers and Nico albums to name a few, to working with Eno. Whoa. That's a real nice cup of tea... What an incredible guy.
This track was poorly recorded in the middle of the night, drunk and alone in Santee, Ca., sometime in 2004 or 2005 (i think) using multiple noise makrs and plukrs.
