In this video, I restore one of the rarest machines I’ve ever found — a Victorian linear dividing engine — and send it as a surprise gift to Brandon from @InheritanceMachining as part of a special YouTube maker collaboration #ToolRoomTakover2025
Once used in the 1800s to engrave linear scales on precision instruments, this antique tool was buried in a box of junk at an auction. Now, after a full restoration it’s ready for its next chapter.
If you love antique tool restoration, machining projects, or seeing old engineering brought back to life, you’ll enjoy this one!

Invented in 1816 by Robert Stirling as an alternative to Steam Engines and in this case is powered by a small flame heating the engine directly.
A Stirling engine is a heat engine that is operated by the cyclical compression and expansion of air between different temperatures, resulting in a net conversion of heat energy to mechanical work.
Stirling engines are often used in applications where continuous and reliable power generation is required, like in some spacecraft, submarines, and certain renewable energy systems.

stirlingengine.co.uk/d.asp?product=KS90_SOL_KITHero engine - radial steam turbine #shorts #steamturbine #coolgadgetsJonesey Makes2024-02-05 | A Hero's engine is a simple radial steam turbine. Water is added to the ball via a valve at the top then heated by the spirt burner. The water boils and produces steam which exits the ball through small jets on the side which produces torque and spin the ball up to 2500 rpm.
The Greek-Egyptian mathematician and engineer Hero of Alexandria described the device in the first century AD and many credit it's invention to Hero, however, Vitruvius a Roman Architect and engineer was actually the first to describe this device around 20-30 BC.
