Our eternal salvation is based on our obedience to walking away from sin and the things of this world (lust of the flesh, pride of life, lust of the eyes - read further in the bible or look it up) through the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We are completely set free from sin through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ but faith without proof of change is dead so we must show that we've truly become born again to be saved.
