This film documents the 1926 trans-Arctic flight of the airship Norge, led by Roald Amundsen and Umberto Nobile. The footage appears to be an edited silent release print with intertitles. No production credits are present.
The film follows the Norge airship in May 1926 as it departs Ny-Ålesund, Svalbard (Norway), makes the first verified flyover of the North Pole, and lands near Teller, Alaska. The semi-rigid airship, built in Italy, carried a 16-man expedition led by polar explorer Roald Amundsen. It was designed and piloted by Umberto Nobile. The expedition was financed by American explorer Lincoln Ellsworth and the Norwegian Aviation Society, and became known as the Amundsen–Ellsworth Transpolar Flight.
