He has been part of several international organizations which fight for human rights, such as the Program to Combat Racism of the World Council of Churches; African Diaspora Project at Michigan State University; International Scientific Committee of the UNESCO Slave Route Project; and consultant for the Inter-American Institute of Human Rights.
