Abstract: Have you ever been in a situation where you’ve created a Shiny app for a stakeholder only to find there were different questions in mind to be answered? Or, perhaps, you find yourself two months into app development and are asked to add in new features that would cause you to re-format the entire app? These types of situations are what inhibit developers from having a successful Shiny app launch.
In this talk, I’ll explain why everyone benefits from a Shiny app development blueprint to guide the project and make sure that developers and stakeholders are on the same page. I’ll highlight which details must be found in this document, including specific questions that need to be answered by stakeholder and developer alike and some company-specific considerations. I’ll also cover how this document can lay a groundwork for successful communication between the stakeholder and developer.
This customizable document ensures all parties involved in the app development process know why the app is being created, how it will be used, and when certain deliverables will occur. Since stakeholders are involved in the entire planning process, the app will be more effectively used, and developers will build trust and strengthen relationships with stakeholders.
