The ITER vacuum vessel is taking shape! ITER Organization transferred Sector 5, the first delivered by Europe, to the sub-assembly tooling.

There, the sector will be equipped with the thermal shields, magnet supports and in-vessel components, getting it ready for installation in the Tokamak pit

ITER's vacuum vessel sectors will form a stainless-steel container of 5200 tonnes. Inside it, an unprecedentedly powerful fusion reaction will take place.
