On an autumn day in 1760, a woman's funeral was held in London.
So many mourners crowded outside the church, that the crowd was estimated at ten thousand. So many that it suggests a royal burial, but the deceased was far from royal.
She came from an impoverished family and was raised in obscurity in Ireland.
Yet during the second half of her short life she would have been well accustomed to adoring & curious crowds.
This ethereal vision and her sister, were beautiful no doubt, but their effect on the population was extreme, bordering on bizarre.
