Crafty Corner: Craft Room Tour Series | Card Storage Solutions | Martins Mayhem Martin Stone 2024-02-25 | Happy Sunday! Today is slightly different as there isn’t a card in today's post. It's all about my craft room and how I store all my ‘stuff’. Yes, there is a lot of it. I wish I could record a full craft room tour but I don’t want to bore you all. So I’m creating small bitesize videos for you to watch. I’m calling it Crafty Corner. I’m starting with my cardstock and how I store it away. Key ItemsAll my units are from Ikea and from the Eket collection. I went for these units due to the different styles of units you can get. I store it in one of the cabinets (linked below). I do recommend getting the units with legs as I have found some of the bottom bow due to the weight of the card.Eket - Cabinet combination with legs: ikea.com/gb/en/p/eket-cabinet-combination-with-legs-white-wood-s79388003The card sheets are stored in these plastic wallets that only open at the top. These are brilliant as I store both my full sheets of card as well as my scraps in one place. That means whenever I use a colour I take the whole pack out and then I have no scrap lying around. You can fit roughly 50 sheets into a sleeve with a few scraps. I wouldn’t recommend any more than this. Page Protectors: amzn.to/3uScpyoThe dividers are really for comic books however work perfectly for cards. You’ll find that are they slightly too small to sit upright as UK A4 will cover it up. I have cut the bottom edge off of mine to enable me to have the poking between the packs. The link below is not to the ones I have however I have found a MUCH cheaper alternative which I’d recommend getting instead. Believe me, I’ll be buying these ones going forward. Comic Book Dividers: amzn.to/3uLasDV I labelled both the dividers and the packs with the colour name. I designed the ones for my Stampin’ Up! card myself however other brands like Concord & 9th (highly recommended) have labels that are often sent out for free alongside bundles. Sending Sunshine | Stampin Up! Sending Smiles Stamp Set | Watercolour Daisies | Word Dies Martin Stone 2023-07-09 | Happy Sunday! Today I am sharing a project I created for the Fancy Friday Design Team. The theme for last month was ‘Spots or Stripes’. I chose stripes and focused on using them in the background of todays project. As always I haven’t stuck to just one main project however the sentiment is from the Sending Smiles Stamp Set [158701]. What I love most about this card is the brilliant bite colours. From the Tahitian Tide Card [159262] base to the Berry Burst Ink [147143] flowers. Colour just brings you joy and Stampin’ Up! are famous for their colours. I have recorded a video tutorial a little lower so you can see just how this card was created. As previously mentioned I used the Sending Smiles Stamp Set [158701] for the sentiment. This is one of my favourite stamps sets of all time. It has amazing sentiments, adorable images & great coordinating dies. What more could you ask for. Honestly if its not already in your stamp collection, add it. Todays theme is all about colour, we are matching two of our remaining colours to one of our new ones. You all know I’m a pastels boy at heart so I worked with our new Bubble Bath colour with the Share A Milkshake Photopolymer Stamp Set [160394].I have had the Share A Milkshake Photopolymer Stamp Set (English) [160394] ever since it has came out and just not used it! Terrible, I know. This challenge however was the perfect opportunity and the subtle colours selected work brilliantly with the set. My favourite part of the of this card is the heart shapes from the Share A Milkshake Dies [160395]. I’m not 100% they are hearts, but I think they work well. These were die cut from Basic White A4 Cardstock [159228] to help break up the Highland Heather A4 Cardstock [147010]. Watercolour Wash | Stampin Up! Sailboat Builder Punch | Happy Birthday Card | Nautical Theme Martin Stone 2023-06-02 | Happy Friday! I’m excited to be back today sharing a project I create for the latest Global Design Project challenge. They post weekly challenges and this week is a CASE the designer, which just so happens to be my friend Krista Frattin. For my project I am focusing on Sailboat Builder Punch [157905].I loved how this projected turned out. It was strange actually using a white card base, like that never happens anymore. All the colour on this card is done with watercolour apart from the sentiment strip. This card would look so different if I had of used colour card. I used Thick Basic White Card [159230] as this can withhold a slight amount of water. The on Sailboat Builder Punch [157905] to be the star of this project but I think the Silver-Threaded Twine [159662]. This is a product I never thought I’d use but now I have I love it. I feel like this twine helps bring a nodical theme. Crafty Carrot Collab | Stampin Up! Cheerful Daisies Bundle | Chequed Background | Stampin Blends Martin Stone 2023-05-28 | Happy Sunday! I’m really excited to be sharing with you a project that I created as a preview for my collaboration with the Crafty Carrot Co. These girls are amazing, and I am so excited to be working with them again. I will be doing a live demonstrations using the Cheerful Daisies Bundle [161297] in June. You can join me by signing up here: thecraftycarrotco.comI’ve seen so many projects created with the Cheerful Daisies Bundle [161297] so trying to create something new is challenging. I stared this project with a sketch a I do normally and I knew I wanted the daisies to be repeated across the background. Choosing Soft Sea Foam as a base was risky due to embossing the daisy petals in white however by added a little coordinating ink it helps make them pop. This project was also my first time using the new Lemon Lolly colour. I have to say I love it and this project aside, I’ve used the blend today on another project and they are beautiful. I stamped the centre of the daisies in Lemon Lolly Ink [161666] onto Lemon Lolly Card [161729]. The smaller centre hasn’t got a coordinating die, so I did fussy cut these out. Today I am here sharing a fun idea some of the current Artisan Design Team had. We wanted to do a Instagram Hop and thought of the fun idea of casing each other but not just that turn a none Christmas card into a Christmas one. We have each cased one person; I was lucky enough to case my dear friend Charlet Mallett. The card I am casing can be found here. You’ll see that I am using the Sweet Gingerbread Bundle [159719].This card was so fun to create and there are so many little elements that I just love. I used the Sweet Gingerbread Bundle [159719] to create a gingerbread house design. The house was die cut from Crumb Cake Card [121685] with some white embossing on them. I could have used white embossing for the windows however I felt the Early Espresso Ink [147114] worked better.The sentiment was embossed directly onto the mat layer which is something new to me. I normally position my sentiments at the highest point of the card whereas this is in the background. You’d think I wouldn’t like it but its not too bad, even if I do say so myself. I did ink blend some Blushing Bride Ink [147100] in the background which did make it pop a little more. Pumpkin Boxes | Stampin Up! Drybrush Stamp | Halloween Treat Box | Martins Mayhem Martin Stone 2022-10-02 | Happy Sunday! It’s October – My favourite month. The leaves are just turning, the log fire is on & blankets are out. At the end of the month its Halloween! With this in mind it was only fitting that I created something suiting for the occasion. Today’s project primarily focus’ on the Drybrush Background Stamp [152599]. I’m just going to put it out into the world, but I don’t like making 3D projects – Far too much maths involved for my liking however I had to give something a go. When I do have to create a box, I tend to stick with this clam style box. A full demonstration of how to create the box is in the video below. I wanted to create the pumpkin face as simply as possible and did consider hand drawing something. I decided to scrap that idea to show you how you can use the Beautiful Shape Dies [158046]. Stampin Up Reason to Smile Stamp Set Martin Stone 2022-09-04 | Happy Sunday! I’m really excited to be back today with the Creation Station Design Team as we explore the theme of ‘Gold’. I started with a distinct idea in my head on what to do for this project and in the end it when sideways a little. Nevertheless I still love the results. I created these cards with the Reasons to Smile Stamp Set [159021]. I adored the Reasons to Smile Stamp Set [159021] the moment I saw it in the annual catalogue. Its just such a beautiful set with some really uplifting sentiments. This isn’t the first time I’ve used this set, but that project is still under wraps at the moment. This being said, I wanted to share an easy way of making an impact with a simple project. The Blushing Bride Card [131287] base was the second of the two projects that I created. It has to be said though, its my favourite. I wish I could say it was because of the colour itself but Blushing Bride isn’t a normal favourite of mine. What I think works well is the gold embossing powder from the Metallics Embossing Powders [155555]. If you were to ask my partner, his favourite is the Evening Evergreen Card [155575]. It reminds him of a Christmas card which I completely get. I still think its nice and the recipient will love it either way as its hand made. Merry Christmas | Stampin Up! Cottage Wreaths Bundle | 3x3 Notecards | Martins Mayhem Martin Stone 2022-08-28 | Happy Sunday! I’m excited to be back today with the Stamping Sunday Design Team as we get a head start on the holidays. That’s right, that is the theme of this month’s blog hop. It got me thinking about how I could make a really simple card which could be easily stepped up. I used the Cottage Wreaths Bundle [159659] to make these adorable 3x3 notecards. I wish I could sit here and tell you that I started with the simple project first however that would be a lie. Watercolour Background | Stampin Up! Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set | Martins Mayhem Martin Stone 2022-08-14 | Happy Sunday! I’m really excited to share today project with you. It has been a while since I have created this style of project. The card with created primarily with the Butterfly Brilliance Stamp Set [155092]. I created this card for the Fancy Friday Sketch Challenge. The Fancy Friday Design Team is a team of previous & current Artisan Design Team Members. We work to fun monthly challenges over on Facebook & Instagram. This month was a sketch challenge which I just love. I love how the colours work together on this one. I chose Tahitian Tide & Gorgeous Grape. Now is it me of does Gorgeous Grape not get used enough? I know I should really use it more. These card features some ‘hand drawn’ elements. I say it like that because with a few tools you can easily trace the shape. Between the Layering Circle Dies [151770] and the punches I managed to achieve the circle shapes. The lines were created with a ruler (as you’d expect}. I wanted the lines not to be perfectly straight so I draw the shapes out first before going over them with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker [100082]. Stampin Up! Hues of Happiness Suite Collection | Coordinating Products | Martins Mayhem Martin Stone 2022-07-01 | Happy Thursday! Its July – Where the heck is this year going. Today is an exciting day as we have the realise of the July-August Mini Catalogue and todays blog hop with the Stamping Society. So much excitement. This blog post is all about my favourite Suite: - Hues of Happiness Suite Collection [158828]. Right then, today’s card. If you have been here before then you will probably know I’m not a big user of designer series paper. That doesn’t mean I don’t buy it and hoard it away just to look at on occasion. I am sure you will agree that the Hues of Happiness 12" X 12" Designer Series Paper [158822] is spectacular. For today’s card I paired two sheets of contrasting patterns: one bold and one subtle. I wanted to demonstrate the versatility of the Hues of Happiness Suite Collection [158828]. You’ll notice that the floral images are from the Hues of Happiness 12" X 12" Designer Series Paper [158822]. These were die cut using the coordinating dies that are within the suite. Stampin Up! Bouquet of Thanks Stamp Set | Vintage Floral Card | Easy Colouring | Martins Mayhem Martin Stone 2022-06-26 | Happy Sunday all! Thank you for popping by today as we I share a post created for the Stamping Sunday Design Team. This month we were creating to the theme of ‘This with That’, using something new from the Annual and something returning. I started with the Bouquet of Thanks Stamp Set [159067] and incorporated the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set [151595].If you haven’t yet got your hands on a catalogue, make sure you request one here. So full disclaimer – I thought the Bouquet of Thanks Stamp Set [159067] would have been bigger thank it is. I’m going with that it was due to it being placed with the background stamps however it is still cute any easy to use. For today’s card I used the floral section of the only from this stamp. This was stamped in Early Espresso Ink [147114] on Crumb Cake Card [121685]. As previously mentioned, the theme for this post was to use the old with the new. I found the sentiment from the Peaceful Moments Stamp Set [151595] just works perfectly. Fancy sentiments are great however sometimes you just need a little thin sentiment. It sits perfectly in front of the coloured images. I used the Assortment 1 Watercolour Pencils [141709]. Firstly I am sharing a project created for the Stamping Society using the Paradise Palms Bundle [157719]. Secondly, Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators get to pre order from the next mini catalogue…. Eekkk! My bank balance is not going to like me!Right so onto today’s card. The Stamping Society are working to the theme of In Colors. If you didn’t know every year Stampin’ Up! releases 5 brand new colours. I am using two of those colours with some of my old favourites. Tahitian Tide (still can’t say it out load) & Parakeet Party are my favourite new colours. Of course there are so many different products in these colours. I only used coloured ink for this project with any card being Basic Black [121688] or Basic White [159230]. Did you know that you can watercolour onto Shimmery White Card [121717]? Well it took me a while to work it out but know I know its fabulous. Such a little detail. I love the watercolour look on this project as it softens the look and style.
