Liandrin's flashback reveals she killed her husband and escaped with her child, later aided by Ishamael. In the present, she kills a Black Ajah sister on Lanfear’s orders; Moghedien, disguised as a servant, kills another. In Tanchico, Nynaeve, Elayne, Mat, and Min search for a male a'dam, Mat finds part of it, but Moghedien steals it using Compulsion. In the Aiel Waste, Egwene is confronted by Lanfear. Sammael attacks; Rand fights back but also accidentally kills a young Aiel girl, then tries to resurrect her. In the Two Rivers, Perrin and Alanna recover, while Padan Fain, posing as a Whitecloak, brings Trollocs through the Ways.

In The Wheel of Time, a humble farm boy, Rand al’Thor, learns he is The Dragon Reborn—a dangerous figure from history destined to save the world … or break it.
