Cambodia is one of the best countries for beer drinkers. One of the things that make it great is the pull tab prize system. You open your beer and check under the beer tab to see if you won. About 1 in 3 beers are winners - mostly a free beer, but you can also win money. It's fun, and addictive, and it makes beer even cheaper than it already is in Cambodia.
But just recently the Cambodian government announced that the pull ring prize system is being shut down. It will no longer be allowed. On one hand, this is a real bummer. I love beer gambling. On the other hand, there is a real drinking problem in the country. Perhaps this will help curb it, but there are rumours that the actual reason behind the pull tab ban is... Heineken.
