DIY Lo-Fi alternative rock with flecks of glam. Recorded on a Sony MDM 4 track. Essential inspirations: Bowie, John Lennon and Prince. Instruments track recorded: Fender 72 Jaguar, Prototype Phantom Bass, synth, other sounds and drums courtesy of a Roland MC-50 MK II sequencer although no sequencing was programmed. It was all played live and tracked.
Notes from: "It is also early on in our bedroom recording and production curve recorded around 2001. This is the first song I wrote after my dad passed away and there are glimmers of soul searching in it and maybe that is why I don't care to change the obvious production problems and even some of the playing that is off time in spots. It sounds like my mind was elsewhere and it was. Simple production, not much to this really, i played everything cuz i had to, at the time it was too personal a project to share. - (Robb)
On the video: Totally inspired by the work of David Dean Burkhart who uses vintage films to create fan videos for a host of indie bands. He used the 1981 Russian film "Per Aspera Ad Astra" ("Through The Thorns To The Stars") for a Future Islands song and the vision of actress actress and model Yelena Metyolkina pretty much burned in my brain. I decided I had to use the same source material but primarily strayed away from the scenes David picked. I think our stories that end up being told are vastly different.
