## Big Editing Challenge Awards — with Josh Beal, ACE
We’re closing out **EditJam 2026** by putting your edits on the big screen.
During the Big Editing Challenge, editors received the dailies from EditStock’s short comedy *Thumb War* and were challenged to cut their own approximately 2:30 section of the film.
Now it’s time to see what everyone did with the footage.
For our Closing Ceremony, **Josh Beal, ACE** (*House of Cards, Bloodline*) will join us to review selections from **5–10 submitted cuts** and give professional feedback on the editorial choices.
And this is important: **we’re not selecting the “best” edits.**
We’ll choose submissions that create the most interesting conversations and offer the strongest learning opportunities for everyone watching. Different approaches. Unexpected choices. Things that worked. Things that didn't. And moments that can teach us something about storytelling and editing.
We'll explore:
* How different editors approached the exact same footage
* What Josh notices when watching a cut for the first time
* Choices that strengthen—or weaken—a scene
* Alternative ways to solve editorial problems
* How professional editors evaluate their own work
* Lessons you can apply to your next edit
* Big Editing Challenge prizes and awards
The point of the challenge isn't to prove who's the best editor.
**It's to participate, make choices, finish something, put your work out there—and learn from what happens next.**
We’ll also give away some fantastic prizes and officially close out **EditJam 2026**.
