One of the new things that the remaster added was the ability to revisit key dungeon areas in SaGa Frontier 2, and at the end of it, face the six Edelritters all over again. This time, however, their normal forms got a significant buff, and once defeated, you face a buffed form of their individual Egg form.
They are arguably harder than most of the forms the final boss takes, and to even out the odds, you are given the chance to make a party with a lot of liberties. All locked gear, except for the Cielmerlion (some sort of arm tattoo?), can be removed from the person who owns them, and other gear can take its place. You still cannot, for example, give Gustave's Sword to Johan, but you can give Gustave a Cinderforce Sword and a proper shield.
This mode also added David as a playable unit, which wasn't even a thing during the war segment of South Mondtop in 1305! Other notable newcomers include members of the Edelritter themselves, such as Bolse and Isis, if you did their respective chapters.
You cannot fight the respective Edelritter lord with their own selves. To prevent this, the game goes a step further and will not retain the party with Sargon as lead from his chapter, or simply remove him from party otherwise. This was a clever play by the devs.
I have spent an enormous amount of time grinding, and had things like four Titus Greaves, Devil's Tears, etc equipped in order to better handle these battles. I did not want the Stone Lord fight, for example, to turn into a glorified RNG fest to see if I'd get petrified or not.
I love how each and every lord has a remix of the game motif in the second form. Not only did we get Feldschlacht V officially with this remaster, but we also got these six banger songs... just, yes please. I love how the Tone Lord's theme is the very song that Isis found at the top of the Laubholz ghoul Tower. It's a really good touch.
If you win all of these fights, you can then challenge the truly ultimate form of the Egg, but you will be restricted to the usual party you have at endgame. You cannot remove units from your subparty, nor can you take off Gustave's and Meythia's unique gear. You cannot use subparty members for parameter inheriance. This means that, in order to properly grind for this slugfest, the player has to not only grind Ginny and 3 others, they also have to grind four separate units at any point in the timeline to pass their growths on top of it. I suggest using units like Ventarbre, Johan, and Rich for their high growth and affinity towards all elements, and Diana for her generally fast growth rates. Keep in mind that Ventarbre and Cielmer are often used as stand ins to add more variety to parties as possible members, meaning that you can grind Ven alongside Gustave and Johan, and then side by side with Rich and Diana. Finding these overlaps will be key.
I don't know if I will pull off the uber egg or not. I saw someone do a 2 hour livestream and fail at the last minute. I shudder at that happening...
