for round 3 part 1 of equine idol
i hope the overlay doesnt count as text fml hahaha, i tried to blur it just in case :P
ive literally been debating on which characteristic to use since the contest was us.
what would make me stand out? what would show me the best?
i have many qualities, determination, integrity, perserverance, the love of the sport, a bond with my pony
but i didnt know which one to chose.
then it hit me.
heart.
not like in your chest heart.
but like having heart.
having heart to me means everything i mentioned above, and so much more.
it means that even though youre at rock bottom, you pull through, and rise above the rest, because you believe in yourself and your horse that much and love this crazy sport that much.
you cant teach someone to have heart. you cant force yourself to have heart. you could have the best trainers in the world, the best horse in the world, you could even be the best RIDER in the world and not have heart. you have to be born with it.
i have literally experienced almost every situation imagined to a degree (i dont feel comfortable sharing it on yt, but if the judges want to ask then go ahead haha). i mean, why else do you think i can relate to all you guys? :P
i have been to hell and back, and ive been so depressed that ive just wanted to sleep forever and never leave my room.
and you know what? me and pons are the underdog. literally. he's a 14 hand, 19 year old "thing" with his years in the pony jumpers at their end. he was a pony off of the freaking slaughter house auction, and was a backyard pony for a good portion of his life.
but do you know why he could kick anyones ass in the jumper ring?
because he has the biggest heart i have ever seen in a horse. he never ever stops trying, and he always gives it his all.
and you know what? this is it for me. i only have 2 years left as a junior. and i cant guarentee pons will be able to do it all next year. i mean, unless i get crazy catch ride opportunities next year...

this is the beginning of the end.
ive been at shows where i didnt get around. ive been at shows where i get heartbreaking rails. ive been at shows where i forget my course. ive been at shows where ive fallen off. multiple times.
and ive been told i cant do it. ive been told that im not good enough. ive been told to just give up, because im just going to disappoint myself in the end.
but i wont listen to them.
i just cant.
im not letting all of these years ive worked my ass off just slip away. im not going to let myself, or pons down. i have a chance, and im taking it.
but when the odds are against you, that just means that more people will be in awe when you pull out on top.
so when it feels like the world is against you? keep going. it means that youre doing it right.
