This tool detects your Linux distribution and GPU vendor, then installs the correct compute runtime for your system — including: • AMD ROCm • NVIDIA CUDA • Intel Compute Runtime
The script currently supports Fedora and Arch-based distributions (Arch, EndeavourOS, Manjaro, CachyOS), with an easy way to add support for additional distros.
It uses lspci to detect the GPU vendor (AMD, NVIDIA, or Intel) rather than the card manufacturer, and presents everything through a Python Tkinter GUI. The script runs install commands via the terminal and requires sudo access, so you’ll want to keep the console open while using it.
The project will be released on GitHub under GPLv3, and I’m open to contributions. My Python knowledge is limited, so if you have ideas for improvements (Polkit support, Qt UI, more functionality), feel free to jump in and help out.

The Playnite maintainer has confirmed that once Playnite 11 launches on Windows, development will begin on porting it to Avalonia — and a Linux version is expected to start in 2026. This could finally give Linux gamers a unified launcher capable of managing Steam, Epic, GOG, emulators, and more.
I’m personally excited to see how this evolves, and I’ll continue following updates as they happen. If an alpha or beta drops, we’ll cover it here.

From installation to gaming benchmarks, we walk through every step to find out whether PikaOS is a solid choice for PC gamers.
I start by going through the PikaOS installer, selecting language, keyboard layout, timezone, and making sure I don’t overwrite my Fedora installation. PikaOS uses Btrfs, ZRAM, and ships with a custom 6.17.8 kernel that includes performance optimizations similar to CachyOS.
Once installed, we go through the welcome screen, system updates, KDE Plasma 6.3.6, and the preinstalled gaming tools such as Steam, Lutris, Heroic, ProtonPlus, and various Wine utilities. Bluetooth pairing for my Xbox controller worked instantly, which is always a good sign for Linux gaming.
For the gameplay test, I installed Stellar Blade on my dedicated games drive and ran it at 4K resolution with FSR3 (no frame generation). Shader compilation was quick, and the overall performance was surprisingly smooth with a stable framerate. Gameplay felt great despite my controller having a bit of stick drift.
Overall, PikaOS delivered a strong out-of-the-box gaming experience, quick setup, and excellent performance in Unreal Engine titles. I’ll be testing more Linux distributions soon—let me know which ones you’d like to see reviewed next!

This is my honest 30-day Fedora Linux review, focusing on real-world performance for Linux gaming, video editing on Linux, Proton compatibility, and overall system stability.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been gaming heavily on Fedora with titles like Planet Crafter and Arc Raiders, and Fedora has delivered excellent performance with smooth frame rates, strong 1% lows, and reliable Steam Proton support. Even co-op gaming with my kid has been rock solid. Fedora continues to impress me as a gaming-focused Linux distro, even though it's not marketed as one.
While editing a RAM-intensive podcast in DaVinci Resolve for Linux, I discovered that my system instability was caused by failing memory. Running MemTest86+ confirmed RAM errors, and replacing the sticks (despite today’s crazy RAM prices) instantly restored stability. With my G.Skill Ripjaws 3600MHz back in place, Fedora has been performing better than ever.
I’ve also tested various Proton-GE and Proton-cachyos builds using ProtonPlus and Qt-ProtonUp. Interestingly, Fedora running Proton-cachyos offers performance within 1 FPS of running CachyOS itself, since the builds compile against your CPU architecture. This makes Fedora surprisingly competitive with top-tier performance distros for gaming.
So, will I continue using Fedora? Yes — Fedora Linux is currently my main distro. It’s stable, fast to shut down, reliable for gaming, and consistent during content creation. Compared to Arch-based distros and even CACHYOS, Fedora has provided a smoother, more dependable experience for daily use.
Moving forward, I’ll be testing more Linux distros, doing more Linux gaming benchmarks, and creating Linux modding tutorials. With the improved support from the NexusMods App on Linux, I’m excited to mod games like Skyrim, Fallout 3, and Fallout New Vegas and share full guides here on the channel.
