How to Install PS3 PKG Files from NTFS/exFAT USB Drives with ManaGunZ | Large 4 GB+ PKG Support! MrMario2011 2024-09-21 | A major limitation of installing PKG files from a USB device on the PS3 is being forced to stick to the FAT32 file system. You typically have to take an extra step to format large drives to this, and the file system doesn't support any files larger than 4 GB in size. Although there's a few ways of installing large PKG files, this video will take a look at using ManaGunZ to read an NTFS or exFAT formatted USB drive, copy PKG files from it, and install them to the console!This method of PKG installation requires you to have either a jailbroken PS3 console running custom firmware or a console modified with PS3HEN. This video will assume you already own a modified console and have at least a basic understanding of how to navigate it. In a surprise to everyone, no update was deployed, and all changes to the console were done server-side! Although the online Dashboard leaves a lot to be desired for many folks out there, none of the changes made are permanent since you can retain your old Dashboard simply by disconnecting from Xbox Live. Many people believed this was all to the update, but people who were anticipating a Dashboard/Kernel update were left puzzled as there in fact was a new update created in the form of 17698! While the emulator is impressive, it also has several compatibility issues depending on the game being played and even which specific emulator executable is being used. This could be manually adjusted by renaming the emulator files, but Derf made it much easier thanks to Xefu Spoofer! MrMario2011 2024-07-19 | The much teased SystemOS Kernel Vulnerability for Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles has been released! It goes by the name Collateral Damage, the first iteration of it is quite early in development in terms of usability for end-users, but this initial release is mostly targeted for developers to start tinkering with. This works on any Xbox One or Xbox Series console, but it does require the console to be on an outdated Dashboard update along with being prepared with the Game Script application installed. How to Jailbreak Your PS3 on Firmware 4.91 or Lower with Flash Writer! MrMario2011 2024-07-17 | The Flash Writer returns, this time updated to work on firmware 4.91! If you have a compatible PlayStation 3 on firmware 4.91 or lower, you can easily jailbreak your PS3 using only software! No hardware flashers, no need to take apart the console, not even a need to downgrade! As long as the updated 4.91 Flash Writer can be accessed on your console, a compatible PS3 can be patched to allow for Custom Firmware (CFW) installation.If you have a CFW capable PS3 the first thing you should do is backup your console's NAND or NOR flash to a FAT32 formatted flash drive. This should be done on every install, just in case your system needs the flash restored at any point in the process. After verifying your flash dump is proper, you can patch your console for CFW within the browser! This process will download a specific file to your console and "patch" the console so it's ready for CFW. After verifying your PS3 has been patched successfully, you can simply reboot your console, take a 4.91 CFW of your choice, and install it directly through the XMB!In order to do all of this you MUST have a compatible PS3. All Fat/Phat models work! If you want to perform this on a Slim console, 20XX and 21XX models are all compatible. 25XX models that have a 3.56 or lower minimum firmware version will work, any console with a higher minimum firmware will not. ANY PS3 MODEL HIGHER THAN 25XX WILL NOT WORK! This includes newer Slim (30XX) models and all Super Slim models.Although this tutorial was recorded on firmware 4.91, the jailbreak process with Flash Writer is the same on higher firmwares as long as all of the software needed has been updated. The only differences would be a firmware specific patch, which Flash Writer will download for you, and a different CFW matching your firmware version. Standardizing the HDD Key on an Original Xbox - Nulling, Resigning Content, and More! MrMario2011 2024-04-13 | Every original Xbox console contains a hard drive with a hard drive key, with the intention of that hard drive being paired and locked to a console expecting that matching key. While a console with a custom BIOS can accept any storage medium and keys do not have to be matching, softmodded and stock consoles running a retail BIOS require a locked hard drive with a matching hard drive key. As these keys are randomized 32 character values, years ago it was determined for safety and ease of use that you could "null" a hard drive key to 32 0's. This means anyone who is aware that a lock hard drive's key has been nulled can unlock it easily without the console's EEPROM backup, and hard drives can even be swapped between consoles expecting nulled hard drive keys!Unfortunately it was discovered that nulled out consoles and hard drives with a key set to all 0's would not work online with Insignia. However the process of "unoing" a key surfaced, setting the key to 32 1's instead of 32 0's, and it was confirmed to work online! This might be beneficial for some softmodded console owners out there worried about losing their HDD key, but there are a few precautions to keep in mind before making the decision to change the HDD key. How to Convert Your PS3 from PS3HEN to CFW MrMario2011 2024-03-23 | I've covered how to jailbreak a PS3 from stock firmware to obtain Custom Firmware (CFW) with the PS3 Toolset aka BG Toolset, however many PS3 owners with CFW compatible have been running PS3HEN and wanted to know how to migrate from PS3HEN to CFW. Although there might be some confusion and worry about starting on PS3HEN with HFW, reverting back to OFW, uninstalling PS3HEN, etc. this tutorial should hopefully ease those worries by showing the PS3HEN to CFW conversion process step-by-step.In order to do all of this you MUST have a compatible PS3. All Fat/Phat models work! If you want to perform this on a Slim console, 20XX and 21XX models are all compatible. 25XX models that have a 3.56 or lower minimum firmware version will work, anything showing a higher minimum firmware will not. ANY PS3 MODEL HIGHER THAN 25XX WILL NOT WORK! This includes newer Slim (30XX) models and all Super Slim models.If you have a CFW capable PS3 the first thing you should do is backup your console's NAND or NOR flash to a FAT32 formatted flash drive. This should be done on every install, just in case your system needs the flash restored at any point in the process. After verifying your flash dump is proper, you can download the required patch for your console and install it all directly within the browser! This process will download a specific file to your console and "patch" the console so it's ready for CFW. After verifying your PS3 has been patched successfully, you can simply reboot your console, take a 4.91 CFW of your choice, and install it directly through the XMB!Although this tutorial was recorded on firmware 4.91, the jailbreak process with PS3 Toolset is the same on higher firmwares as long as all of the software needed has been updated. How to Jailbreak Your PS3 on Firmware 4.91 or Lower with PS3 Toolset! MrMario2011 2024-03-17 | PS3 Toolset aka BG Toolset makes jailbreaking a PS3 easier, faster, and safer than ever before! If you have a compatible PlayStation 3 on firmware 4.91 or lower, you can easily jailbreak your PS3 using only software! No hardware flashers, no need to take apart the console, not even a need to downgrade! Thanks to the team over at PS3Xploit, anyone with a compatible PS3 can patch their console and install Custom Firmware (CFW).If you have a CFW capable PS3 the first thing you should do is backup your console's NAND or NOR flash to a FAT32 formatted flash drive. This should be done on every install, just in case your system needs the flash restored at any point in the process. After verifying your flash dump is proper, you can download the required patch for your console and install it all directly within the browser! This process will download a specific file to your console and "patch" the console so it's ready for CFW.
