The Scuba GuyIn today’s episode, we will be uncovering the mystery of the Lost Treasure of Lima. Said to be buried on Cocos Island, which historians claim to be the inspiration for Robert Louis Stephenson's Treasure Island, this treasure is worth over $200 million today.
It was accumulated by Spanish conquistadors over 3 centuries in Peru after defeating the Incas and includes a 7ft solid gold statue of the Virgin Mary. In the early 19th century, the Peruvian War of Independence forced the Spanish to move the treasure. It was during this transfer that greed got the better of one Captain William Thompson, after which, the treasure was never seen again.

In the early hours of March 18th, 1990 two individuals disguised as police officers entered the hallowed halls of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, leaving behind a trail of empty frames and shattered security measures. The stolen works, valued at over $600 million, include masterpieces by Vermeer, Rembrandt, and other renowned artists, remain missing to this day in what is the largest art heist in history.
Every day, museum-goers are reminded of this audacious heist through the empty frames that hang eerily on the walls. The museum is desperate to have these frames full once more and is offering a 10 million dollar reward to anyone who provides information leading directly to the art’s safe return.
One thing that is certain, there is someone out there who knows who pulled off the heist and who knows where these treasures are today.

Dating back to more than 2,000 years ago, the Antikythera is the most sophisticated technological device that survives the ancient Greek era. It has been described as a pocket universe and a model of the cosmos.
Now on display at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens, much about the Antikythera remains unknown, including its purpose, the inscriptions scattered across its surface and even its creator. Treasure hunters are still searching today for missing parts of the mechanism that may reveal hidden secrets about the inner workings of this masterpiece which is arguably priceless because of its uniqueness and significance.

Famously dubbed "unsinkable", this maritime wonder now rests 12,500 feet (3,800m) deep in the Atlantic Ocean. Whilst transporting society's wealthiest on its maiden voyage, the ship hit an iceberg on April 14th, 1912 causing it to sink, killing 1,500 out of a total 2,240 passengers onboard.
Since its discovery in 1985, items once belonging to passengers have been recovered and have fetched vast sums at auction. In this video, I discuss some of the more notable items that have been recovered and also explore the treasures that are rumored to still be on the wreck waiting to be recovered.

Like most Vikings, Egill was a savage with a thirst for battle and blood. But unlike most Vikings, Egill was a naturally gifted poet. He is one of, if not the most celebrated of the Viking Poets today. Surprisingly, it was not always his combat skills that got him out of trouble. On at least one occasion, his poetry saved him from execution. During his career as a mercenary, Egill accumulated a lot of silver which he buried before his death. To date, this treasure has never been found.
