This game is a little under appreciated because of the stark design choices and differences in tone it had from FFX. I really love what it did, even if it did feel a bit jarring at first. The story and direction they took some of the characters in was pretty inspired and well thought out, but it's just a shame how much of the story was completely missable! That being said, I can see why they did it.Yuna's Ballad is a stunning piece of music that is up there with some of the most beautiful piano ballads in video-gaming. Due to it being a short piece of music I took quite a few creative liberties and meshed in aspects of a couple of other songs from the game to warrant making this cover. I wanted to make something longer with different phases and various different soundscapes, and this is how it turned out. I chose to make these decisions because I love the original so much; if it was just a one-to-one copy with a beat thrown in then I would feel as though I'm not showing the piece the respect it deserves. It's kinda like the inverse of what they did with the Final Fantasy Main Theme when they mixed it with Kaine's Theme in the final NieR raid. They adjusted it to be in 3/4 to fit with it. The characters had strong personalities and the plot was kinda cool, if not a little crazy. I first played it 10 years ago and Vanille really surprised me as the game progressed; everything she did seemed so forced, and I mean that as a compliment to the writing, because she literally is forcing herself to act the way she does. Sure, the writing isn't perfect, but when it delivers, it's excellent. Vanille is sweet and immature, but ridden with guilt and shame. Her theme has many complex chords that were difficult to learn, however the melody is undeniably simple, and was easy to learn. This mirrors how she is presented in the game perfectly. She is complexity masked in simplicity and I can only praise Hamauzu for it. The theme he created for her informs us of her character in a way that no other expression of art can do. It's appropriately epic, yet foreboding, making it feel like it's do or die time. It's the perfect piece for the final dungeon. You are descending towards Sephiroth, not knowing if you are capable of killing him, and not knowing if killing him will even make a difference to the fate of the world. Excellent framing; it had me captivated until the very end. The scenes I chose are indeed from the dungeon, but Judgement Day does not play in them. I just took a little creative liberty in matching the tone of the cover with some vital dialogue. You'll see what I mean. Two more songs until the album is complete. The first scene in Winhill had so much impact; it was such a beautiful follow-up to the chaotic end of disc 1. I could talk for hours about the characters and the themes of this game! For this video, I decided to make a short sequence of different scenes throughout the game, I hope you like it. The track Fragments of Memories has never left me and never will. Aria Di Mezzo Carattere (FFVI cover) - Roy Samuel Clark Roy Samuel Clark 2019-11-13 | I was very cautious with this one. It truly is a masterpiece to try and cover and so the expectations were immediately massive. I manipulated some synths to try and replicate the sounds of the SNES era for the first half of the piece, and for the second half I wanted it to become more classical focussed like it is depicted in most modern rearrangements.It is barely lo-fi/chill-hop towards the end, but I didn't really know what other genre to classify this as. Dub-classical-bit? Nah man. Either way, it was a treat to play through FF6 again, Celes truly is a magnificent character (and singer too apparently).
