That means corners took me 8 seconds to memorize, and edges took me just 4! First Official Attempt with 3-Style Edges!! Max Siauw 2024-01-08 | Cube: Angstrom Tornado V3 M Flagship (setting 3 for all)I spent most of this comp grinding 3-style with my friends lmao. I was able to finish UF edges the day before (took about 1.5 weeks total), and since I got a 44 on the attempt before this, I thought I'd try to use 3-style in an official solve! Obviously my recall needs a lot of work, and I'm still messing up commutators here and there. But only a 3-cycle off is pretty good!! I'm pretty sure I know exactly what went wrong -- I had parity on this solve but completely forgot to memorize a UF-UR swap on my edges, so I was really confused towards the end of my edge execution why I had an odd number of targets lmao. The road to sub-6 is over. The past ~1.5 years of competing in 3x3 have challenged me with a mental barrier akin to when I was going for my first Square-1 world record. But with the wisdom I gained from that experience, I learned to treat each of these setbacks (of which there are MANY, just watch the video :P) not as a failure, but as a sign that I was getting closer and closer. I was frustrated at times, but I kept my head up through and through, and it certainly paid off. And I believe this is just the beginning :)Btw, my GoPro was dead by this point as it was the final event of the day. It turns out my GoPro just turned off ten seconds into recording on ALL FIVE of my solves. I didn't want to go replace the battery because I wanted to focus on the competition. It took several minutes for me to process this properly. You can see me shaking my head repeatedly because this was an incredibly easy scramble (9 slices - 2/4/3), and I messed up my OBL pretty badly (ended up executing the 4 slice OBL in ~6 slices). But besides that, I am absolutely mortified about these solves--I was able to use two U ZBLLs in this average, but they were executed really badly. Also missed an easy PLL skip on the second solve if I had done a different OLL alg (S R U R' U' R' F R f'), which is actually my standard alg for that case.
