The song is a selection from the Dance production APAHA (pronounced U-pu-h-uh) meaning “WATER” in Sanskrit, co-relating the stories of divine rivers GANGA (pronounced Gun-gaah) and LOS ANGELES river. This song is a prayer to the river goddess Ganga(Gun-gaah) where the dancers request the divine river ganga to come down to earth to purify human beings and to bless mankind. The choreographer/director Guru Sushma Mohan has used the popular and beautiful locations in Canoga park, the birth place of Los Angeles river as the song’s backdropGuru Sushma Mohan is the Artistic Director/Founder of Soorya Foundation for Performing Arts, founded to preserve, protect and promote Indian traditional performing arts in the USA. Please take a minute to consider the land and water we live upon, and the many legacies of once vibrant communities stripped of their freedoms and cultural traditions.
