The U.S. Senate approved a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill with $65 billion allocated to broadband access. And the United Nations IPCC released its latest climate report urging the need for reducing methane emissions to slow global warming.
Sceye's "tower in the sky" approach can provide universal and equitable internet access. It can also measure methane gas emissions with unprecedented precision and in real time, allowing us to establish better environmental standards and national climate policies. #reachforthesceye
Narration by Anousheh Ansari of XPRIZE.Sceyes LegacySceye Official2021-08-11 | Sceye, founded by Mikkel Vestergaard Frandsen, leans on a legacy of humanitarian entrepreneurship. Like its sister companies, LifeStraw and Vestergaard, Sceye is committed to improving the lives of the most vulnerable. Sceye’s high altitude platform stations, or HAPS, can expand broadband access to nearly four billion people, and make education, health and financial services available to everyone. While in the stratosphere, Sceye will also track methane emissions and provide early detection of wildfires and other natural disasters.

The world’s attention is on outer space, but the greatest immediate benefit to humankind may lie in the stratosphere. When we reach it, we’ll be able to do extraordinary things. With the power of High Altitude Platform Stations (HAPS), we can connect half the world’s population to the internet, scan rates of emissions in real time, and plan better for humanitarian recovery and response.
Internet access is a basic right that improves healthcare, education, quality of life and democracy itself. Sceye’s stratospheric platforms can provide the first truly equitable connectivity across rural communities and urban centers.
Our stratospheric platforms can also monitor and protect the Earth. They can carry advanced sensors that can track greenhouse gas emissions in real time, supporting the development of enforceable, accountable climate friendly policies.
