Skincare Beauty Photography High Key Lighting | Behind The Scenes Yaw Asiedu 2020-01-27 | In this video you will be joining me behind the scenes of a skincare beauty shoot i did using 2 of my go to lighting setups. These Lighting techniques were inspired by Lindsay Adler . For my first set up I start with 2 lights using a beauty dish and a 3x4 softbox. My main light is the beauty dish without a grid, positioned above eye level. I don’t want any deep shadows so I added in a triflector to help bounce light back into the models features giving me the clean look i'm going for.The softbox is directly behind the talent which gives me a very nice wrap around effect. Using the Softbox behind my talent turns it into a very clean white background and I don’t have to worry about changing backdrops, vignetting on the sides or having extra lights to light a background. The Softbox helps me change the whole feel of the shoot. Again my main light is the beauty dish without a grid, positioned above eye level. I don’t want any deep shadows so I added in a triflector to help bounce light back into the models features.For my second set i keep my beauty dish and triflector in the same spot, i remove the softbox and add in 2 lights with small umbrellas n 2 gels against the backdrop. I add in the gels to get the colored backdrop i wanted without having to switch the backdrop. Natural Light on Location: Hard Light vs Soft Light Beauty Shoot Yaw Asiedu 2021-10-18 | Sometimes you don't need a lot of gear(lighting gear especially) to create beautiful images. Today you will be joining me outside/inside my flat in Cape Town for a behind the scenes look as i create some eye-catching beauty shots using natural light. I use Hard direct sunlight outside and then go inside for a much softer light using the window in the flat. The natural light in Capetown is unmatched and easily one of my favorites. For the hard light shot I shot at 12pm!!! I know oh my gosh why would you do that!! Well for the simple fact that I love the shadows and drama that you get from hush midday light sometimes. Stepup 1: OUTSIDE MIDDAY SUNIn the first setup we are outside in direct sunlight against a white wall. I had my lastolite trilite reflector on the white side to fill in the heavy shadows. I had my makeup artist hold a cinefoil close and far from the model to create slices of light.Setup 2: INSIDEIn the second setup we head inside the flat. There was some beautiful soft light coming in through the large window so I placed my model right by the window and added my lastolite trilite reflector to bounce the light all around her. This helped a lot so that I did not have to bump up my iso too high.Sometimes less is more, go outside and dont be afraid to use hard light. I went and picked up my Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera and Today, we are unboxing the camera.This is my first time doing an unboxing so be gentle lolThe Canon EOS R5 in my opinion is the best Mirrorless camera on the market. It boasts incredible specs like a 45 megapixel full-frame sensor and the ability to record in 8K RAW video*. This camera will be replacing my Canon EOS 6D Mark ii as my primary camera.* Artificial software limitations tell us the camera overheats in 4K HQ and 8K. Behind The Scenes: 3 Different Lighting Setups for Beauty Photography Yaw Asiedu 2020-07-30 | Hi everyone its been awhile since I've been active on here, the coronavirus put everything on hold but glad to be back in studio creating again. In this video you will be joining me behind the scenes of a beauty test shoot i did using 3 different lighting setups to get 3 different results. I start with a 1light scrim setup this is my favorite setup to use when it comes to shooting clean skin/skincare images. I also add in a triflector to help bounce light into the shadows for a clean look. Setup number 2 is 1light xl umbrella with diffusion and added in a white reflector to help fill in the shadows.Setup number 3 is a 2 light setup. I chose to go hard light because of the makeup look that my makeup artist did. The hard light helps show the textures better. My main light is a magnum reflector and my fill is a barehead with a purple gel.
