How Bluestar just passingly mentions that the main antagonist of her super edition died in a border scuffle with Riverclan.... Why?If you know anything about me, you know that I HATE Spottedleaf's Heart. I think, very passionately, that Vicky Holmes, Working Partners, and Harper Collins should publically both apologize for its sloppy handling of the VERY serious subject matter of pedophilia, but decanonize it and stop publishing it. The intention of novella, to explain why Thistleclaw went to the Dark Forest, makes sense, and I truly believe that this platform COULD have effectively handled the material in a way that could explain to young readers the danger of child grooming, and offer them examples of warning signs to look out for. Instead, it fails to properly villify Thistleclaw's actions- in the climax of the story, when Spottedpaw discovers Thistleclaw is training in the Dark Forest, she asks him to choose between her and the Dark Forest, and he chooses training in the Dark Forest. Spottedpaw then becomes a medicine cat to escape him, offering her a reasonable explanation why she cannot take a mate. Essentially, it makes it seem that the thing he did wrong was NOT CHOOSING HER, not the fact he had been ROMANTICALLY INVOLVED WITH A CHILD. So. Generally speaking, I refuse to acknowledge it as canon. I don't want it in my work. Not my stories, not my art, not my maps. But.... with Redtail's Debt, his very own Novella, announced and coming, one day, I had a thought: what if Spottedleaf told her littermate what had been done to her? What if the deputy of Thunderclan decided banishment wasn't enough- that pedophiles need to be DEALT with. However, I theorize that in Redtail's Debt, this WILL actually happen, BUT, it will be TIGERCLAW, and after they've killed Thistleclaw, Tigerclaw will tell Redtail he owes him, foreshadowing that Tigerclaw would later also secretly kill Redtail and blame it on a border scuffle with Riverclan.I hope you enjoy this video! I can just do a little more editing and make a video for the whole song! You guys really enjoyed that little dancing cat animation I did when I looped it for like five minutes, which was requested a bunch lol, so I was like hey, I bet people would enjoy a longer video if I loop this stuff to cover the whole thing! So thats what I did and I think its super fun even if its a relatively simple video compared to some of my others which feature shorter and more complex animation, its like, a different vibe, you know! But this fits the vibe of the song really well. But the story I wanted to tell here, the theme I wanted to convey is... this almost adversarial dynamic between the memory of my younger self and my current self, if that makes any sense. Both in that, my self-destructive nature as a teenager threatened my old self, but my own current self's resentment of how i FELT at that time sometimes manifests as a resentment for myself during that time... Teenage me looks in the mirror and sees blood that isnt there, while in the future i look back impassively, so desensitized to my own misery i dont always even feel pity anymore. i remember, as a teenager, sometimes thinking about who i might be in the future and being angry and not even knowing why. But I was having a very difficult time. So this concept is... a little difficult to explain, but I hope I can convey the FEELINGS, at least.Also, yes, I did the audio edit for this and yes you can use it! I really wanted to use my favourite parts of the song, so I layered the choruses together, cut in the end and intro bits and I actually recorded and added one extra little giggle in there for some oomph lol.
