I'd set this at the beginning of Karkaton, gameplay-wise.

It's a legitimate aspiration of Seth's to become an attorney, but Raphael is only becoming a prosecutor because he wants to control Seth's life, holding a grudge against him for an incident in their youth (0:30) and being desperate to have some semblance of control in his life. Raphael goes to the lengths of hiding evidence of a crime scene (0:22) and manipulating the other people around them both (0:46) to try and stay on top of Seth, but one of Seth's new friends, Verity (0:53), suspects Raphael is manipulating Seth.
