Update 2021-08-22: the device described at 09:20 and further was used to draw perspective drawings. The video is an introduction to drawing, drafting, and sketching; to the uses of drawing; and the three types of projections: orthographic, axonometric, and perspective. Recorded on September 3, 2020. Class was DES220 Introduction to Drawing for Designers in Fall 2021. It was DES 320 Drafting and Sketching for Design in Spring 2022, School of Design, San Francisco State University.
At 09:20 my explanation of the Dürer engraving showing the device to draw "exact" pictures should have clarified that the projection being discussed is a perspective projection: the string is pulled from different points on the object but always goes to the same nail on the wall – the vanishing point.
