Srinivasa Ramanujan is considered to have ushered India onto the world stage in Mathematics in the post-historic period. The great mathematician has made momentous contributions in analytic number theory, special functions, q-series, and theory of partitions. In keeping with his astute mathematical mind, Dr Atul Dixit, Associate Professor of Mathematics at IIT Gandhinagar delivered a talk on A glimpse into the mathematical universe of Srinivasa Ramanujan at the School of Arts and Sciences, Ahmedabad University.
Dr Dixit focuses on some of the brilliant breakthroughs and the giant leaps of imagination that Ramanujan made that resulted in the fabulous advancement of Mathematics. Dr Dixit also discusses certain aspects of Ramanujan’s life as well as certain incidents from his life that profoundly impacted him and shaped the manner in which contemporary Mathematicians think.
Dr Dixit earned his PhD in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA. His research interests include Analytic Number Theory, Special Functions, Theory of Partitions, q-series, and Modular Forms.
