Although triumphant, I can no longer face my liege or myself [Live a Live🎷📖] subversiveasset 2022-10-27 | It's your quintessential medieval fantasy. You have the strong, brave, handsome knight who will go out to fight the demon king and save the damsel in distress. He is hailed a hero by the entire kingdom...What more could a guy want?But we know that the triumphant hero has gone into self-exile...but why?This cover story is loosely based on Hasshe and Uranus backstory in Live-a-Live's Medieval Chapter. [oh oops, if you didn't know there's a medieval chapter, that's a spoiler. BUT this is not what the medieval chapter is about, so it's not really spoiling].Some interesting things I learned that are relevant for this cover story:1. Between the original SNES game and the Switch HD-2D remaster, the final boss before the Lord of Dark is renamed. In the SNES, it is Gynephobia (fear of women -- definitely relevant for my cover story...so I ran with that!). But in the remaster, it is Hygrophobia (fear of liquids).2. In this story, the demon says that Hasshe's sin is anathema even to demon kind. I didn't make up that idea! Believe it or not, but in medieval demonology, sodomy was seen as too wicked even for demons. This changed only in the 16th century, when men started to be accused of witchcraft in Renaissance Italy, and they needed to also loop those guys in with demons just for the effect.3. The Trans-Universal Travel Research Agency cautions that the Palace of the Dead is extremely dangerous and not to be visited until quarantined by the Agency.The Palace of the Dead represents a crossing not simply from our Worldline to another, but the unprecedented crossing of two Worldlines independently to one another. Worldline 18971-XYTEGENIA (as documented in archival reports as "Tactics Ogre - Let Us Cling Together") is connected to a far disparate Worldline 27193-HYDAELYN (as documented in archival reports as "Final Fantasy XIV"). These Worldlines have low valence together and lack basic narrative compatibility. The presence of Tactics Ogre's Palace of the Dead in Final Fantasy XIV thus represents a highly anomalous, highly destabilizing occurrence that must be investigated and neutralized at any cost necessary.Beware Agents...we suspect there is a strong counterforce engineering these developments by leveraging the burst of energy produced in the poignant transition between life and death itself.
