[Verse 1] If you showed up, I wouldn't let you in We been down that road before And I ain't goin' down that road again So don't bother callin' me tonight Yeah, girl, I'm really done this time
[Chorus] So change my mind, show up in a midnight sundress Burn me up with a whiskey kiss Look at me with them pretty brown eyes And tell me lies just to change my mind You know I'm giving in, so go ahead Wreck my plans like you wreck my bed Do it, baby, like you've done a thousand times And change my mind
[Post-Chorus] Change my mind
[Verse 2] And 'bout the time you let your long hair fall Is about the time I rethink it all And, girl, the sеcond that you lose that dress That's the sеcond that I second guess To tell the truth, I kinda like when you wreck everything
[Chorus] And change my mind, show up in a midnight sundress Burn me up with a whiskey kiss Look at me with them pretty brown eyes And tell me lies just to change my mind You know I'm giving in, so go ahead Wreck my plans like you wreck my bed Do it, baby, like you've done a thousand times Change my mind
[Post-Chorus] C'mon and change my mind
[Bridge] Girl, I'm feelin' pretty damn sure tonight Thinkin' this could be a damn good time
[Chrous] To change my mind, show up in a midnight sundress Burn me up with a whiskey kiss Look at me with them pretty brown eyes And tell me lies just to change my mind You know I'm giving in, so go ahead Wreck my plans like you wreck my bed Do it, baby, like you've done a thousand times Change my mind

Just who the hell do you think you are I pay the light bill in this bar Hey, whatcha mean you gonna cut me off Just shut up and give me that beer I bought I got no idea who took my keys Or who put this lipstick on my cheek I know I might come off whiskey bent You’re probably thinking I’m three sheets to the wind
But, I ain’t as think as you drunk I am Don’t pay no mind to this mountain of crushed up cans No, I can’t say my C-B-A’s But I can sing ya every song that jukebox plays And I know I can’t stand or sit But if I was hammered, could I dance like this Might have a cold one in each hand But I ain’t as think as you drunk I am
Honey, to be honest, I’ve had me a few I mighta danced with a cowgirl or two I mighta left my left boot at the bar You mighta seen me laying out in the yard
But I ain’t as think as you drunk I am Don’t pay no mind to this mountain of crushed up cans No, I can’t say my C-B-As But I can sing ya every song that jukebox plays And I know I can’t stand or sit But if I was hammered, could I dance like this Might have a cold one in each hand But I ain’t as think as you drunk I am
Well, I mighta started drinking at noon But this honky-tonk don’t close till 2
And I ain’t as think as you drunk I am Don’t pay no mind to this mountain of crushed up cans No, I can’t say my C-B-As But I can sing ya every song that jukebox plays And I know I can’t stand for shit But if I was wasted, could I dance like this Might have a cold one in each hand But I ain’t as think as you drunk I am
Might have a cold one in all three hands I ain’t as think as you drunk I am
May not be good as I once was But I’m as good once as I ever was
Last night's red wine has my head hurting You didn't sleep a wink all night, but somehow, girl, you still look perfect And I guess we knew that you'd be leaving But one night with you ain't near enough for what I'm needing, so
You can climb in that cab and catch that flight back to LA Or we can shut the blinds, shut out the world, lay in this damn bed all day We can both pretend we'll meet up again when you pass through Or you can leave me a memory, it can be the end Or we can go again We can go again
Boy, we were hell on this hotel room You made me laugh fumbling with my dress, tripping over your damn boots This show's in town for one night only I've got a plane to catch, but my heart keeps telling me don't leave
You can climb on that bus and catch that ride back to Tennessee Or you can kick them boots back off, come in this bed and just hold on to me We can both pretend we'll meet up again when you pass through Or you can leave me a memory, it can be the end Or we can go again Yeah, we can go again
We don't have to make plans, baby, we don't have to lie We can let it all in end here tonight Baby, let's just stay here a while, while we decide ‘Cause I'd sure love to love you one more time
I can climb on that bus and catch that ride back to Tennessee Or you can kick them boots back off, climb in this bed, and just hold on to me We can both pretend we'll meet up again when you pass through Or you can leave me a memory, it can be the end Or we can go again Yeah, we can go again

If I had it my way I'd be watching your eyes turn from brown to hazel right now Way they did on the front porch swing when the sky turned red watching the sun go down Be a field full of fireflies watching us lost time making up You'd be in my arms, we'd still be in love If I had it my way If I had it my way
If I had it my way I would blink and we'd disappear somewhere, somehow Have a little bit of red wine poured into coffee cups watching the stars come out I'd have an Al Green record on, dance a little by the fireplace We'd make our love then we'd just lay If I had it my way
You'd call me up and say I need you now and I can't go another day I'd say you're all ever think about and I'd give anything to see your face You'd say I miss you, I'd say I don't know how much more I can take You'd say I'm on my way If I had it my way
If I had it my way I'd be losing feeling in my left arm right now Trying like hell not to wake you up while you're laying on me on the living room couch I'd have a John Wayne western on that we wasn't watchin' anyway Girl, I swear I would stay right there for days If I had it my way
You'd call me up and say I need you now and I can't go another day I'd say you're all I ever think about and I'd give anything to see your face You'd say I miss you, I'd say I don't know how much more I can take You'd say I'm on my way If I had it my way If I had it my way
If I had it my way I could just lean in and kiss your lips right now
[Verse 1] There was a man I used to pass On my way into town He was covered in dirt like the world had beat him down I often wondered how he ended up like that So one day, drivin' home, I pulled over to asked I said, "Man, where'd it all go wrong?" He said, "Son, do you really wanna know?" My daddy left for another woman, moved off to L.A My mama fought hard against that cancer, she died when I was eight I finished school, my country shipped me off to war When I came home, my whole world didn't love me anymorе
[Chorus] It's hard to see all that when you're drivin' by So I just write down, "Jеsus Saves" 'Cause there ain't no way I can fit that on a sign I can't fit that on a sign
[Verse 2] I took him to a diner, I bought him a cup of coffee He asked me if he could bum a couple dollars off me He told me his story, I told mine He said, "Thanks 'cause most folks around here would never take the time" He said, "I lost my job down at the mill when that factory closed Army stopped sendin' me them checks, the bank took everything I own" Hitchhiked my way up to Chicago, the nights were too damn cold I hopped a train, headed West 'cause I had nowhere else to go
[Chorus] It's hard to see all that drivin' by So I just write down, "Jesus Saves" 'Cause there ain't no way I can fit that on a sign There ain't no way to fit that on a sign
[Verse 3] I probably would've wrote down a little more If I could've find a bigger piece of cardboard My brother Walter was my hero But he was bad to drink One night, he laid his Harley down Near that Ohio Riverbank Me and my ex wife tried for kids when we were datin' Hell, we even had baby names picked out But little Walter didn't make it
[Chorus] It's hard to see all that just drivin' by So I just write down, "Jesus Saves" 'Cause there ain't no way I can fit that on a sign I can't fit all that on a sign
[Verse 1] Tonight, I ain't bringin' no wine Tonight, I ain't bringin' no roses Talkin' would take too much time I think I just better show you Just turn the lights down, let's get right down to it Soon as I walk in the door I don't wanna be out of line But, girl, I can't wait anymore
[Chorus] I want you in the worst way My hands are needin' your hips Want the first taste Of whiskey to be off your lips So close all the blinds, lock all the doors Put away anything that'll break Baby, I need you tonight Let's see how much love we can make I want you in the worst way
[Verse 2] Baby, that don't mean that I Don't love to go wine and dine you That ain't on the menu tonight 'Cause I think I need to remind you That your skin on my skin Feels just like heaven to me You look like an angel tonight But you might wanna slip off those wings
[Chorus] I want you in the worst way My hands are needin' your hips Want the first taste Of whiskey right off of your lips So close all the blinds, lock all the doors Put away anything that'll break Baby, I need you tonight Let's see how much love we can make I want you in the worst way I want you in the worst way

[Verse 1] I wish girls you loved never gave back diamond rings I wish every porch had a swing Wish kids still learned to say "sir" and "ma'am", and how to shake a hand I wish every state had a Birmingham
[Pre-Chorus] I wish everybody knew all the words to "Mama Tried" I wish Monday mornin's felt just like Friday nights
[Chorus] And I wish even cars had truck beds And every road was named Copperhead And coolers never run out of cold Bud Light And I wish high school home teams never lost And back road drinkin' kids never got caught And I wish the price of gas was low and cotton was high I wish honky-tonks didn't have no closin' time And I wish grandpas never died
[Verse 2] I wish Sunday's on a creek bank would never end Wish I could learn to drive again Wish the first time, seventeen, she was my everything kiss in a Chevrolet Could happen every day
[Pre-Chorus] I wish everybody overseas was gonna make it home I wish Country music still got played on Country radio
[Chorus] And I wish even cars had truck beds And every road was named Copperhead And coolers never run out of cold Bud Light And I wish high school home teams never lost And back road drinkin' kids never got caught And I wish the price of gas was low and cotton was high And I wish honky-tonks didn't have no closing time And I wish grandpas never died Never died

[Verse 1] We can catch a Southwest flight down there to Florida Wade out in that blue water We can take my old Toyota to Atlanta Catch the Braves playin' the Marlins
[Pre-Chorus] To tell the truth, girl, I don't really care I'd love the chance to take you anywhere
[Chorus] Just pick a place where hearts don't break, and I'll open up a tab Somewhere we don't know a soul, and we can wash away the past Somewhere it don't hurt Girl, just say the word and I'm on my way All you gotta do is pick a place
[Verse 2] We can bounce from bar to bar down there on Broadway And both sing out of tune We can find a cheap hotel outside of Dallas And never leave the room
[Pre-Chorus] If you think that there's a place and we can make it I'll go anywhere with you, girl, you name it
[Chorus] Just pick a place where hearts don't break, and I'll open up a tab Somewhere we don't know a soul, and we can wash away the past Somewhere it don't hurt Girl, just say the word and I'm on my way All you gotta do is pick a place Just pick a place
[Bridge] Where tears'll never fall True love don't run off If you think there's somewhere that ain't too late
[Chorus] Then pick a place where hearts don't break, and I'll open up tab Somewhere we don't know a soul, and we can wash away the past Somewhere it don't hurt Girl, just say the word and I'm on my way All you gotta do is pick a place All you gotta do is pick a place

[Chorus] Where brave is eighteen wearin' army green Truth is in the words, in red we read Proud is what you say about where you're from Heroes are daddies and mamas are love Where right is right and wrong is wrong Yeah, we're doin' things a little different 'round here
[Verse 2] Easy's at the end of a long day Free's how you feel, not what you pay Simple's how we live (Yeah), thanks is what we give (C'mon) Roots in the ground's why we stay (Why we stay)
[Chorus] Brave is eighteen wearin' army green Truth is in the words, in red we read Proud is what you say about where you're from Heroes are daddies and mamas are love Yeah, right is right and wrong is wrong Yeah, we're doin' things a little different 'round here
[Post-Chorus] Doin' things a little different 'round here
[Bridge] Rain on a roof is what a song is And home is where the heart is

[Outro] Yeah, we do things a little different 'round here
They say write about small moments - real people, real events, real feelings. Riley Green certainly started that way when he made his first splash a few years ago with "I Wish Grandpas Never Died." So specific, yet so universal, right? And the subject matters he alluded to in the song - honky-tonks with no closing times, coolers with endless Bud Light, chill Sunday afternoons on a creek bed - helped craft his persona to a new audience. Here's a modern guy who hasn't forgotten some of life's simple pleasures. That's a country vibe if there ever was one. The fact that he followed it with the super catchy "If It Wasn't For Trucks" ("how would I have gotten to Tennessee/if it wasn't for a bucket seat?") secured that vibe. Along the way Green proved that his music has plenty of punch. Country, sure, but with an affection for rock 'n' roll's impact. Even though these studio performances of "Different 'Round Here" and They Don’t Make ‘Em Like That No More” are acoustic, there's an unmistakable thrust by the singer and his group. His recorded version of the former has a sweet vocal by Luke Combs as well, but this intimate spin sure does the job, drawing you straight into the message of rural and regional pride. Green's on tour across the US this summer. Bet his audiences are clued in to more than a few of those small moments he's so fond of.
