SM Galleries Interview with the Son of Eric Stanton SMGALLERIES 2014-05-10 | Tom Stanton,partners in SM Galleries, is also an artist (photography, painting and multi- media film projects) and is an advocate for artist rights and helping them have a voice. He and his family have been involved in the art and entertainment business creating art and publishing books for over sixty years. He is also a second generation military veteran who loves to help other veterans and artists reach their full artistic potential.His father Eric Stanton (1926 -- 1999) is a well-known artist that has an incredible background that ranges from main stream comics to underground art - working with well-known artists like Steve Ditko (Spiderman), and Bettie Page. His father was also known for pushing the censorship envelope and fought for the freedom of expression since the 1950's, and helped pave the road for many artists to stand up and express their work. Both his parents, Britt and Eric Stanton, are well published and were themselves also publishers, illustrators, painters and photographers who worked with all types of mediums. SM Galleries Interview with Elise Nadeau SMGALLERIES 2014-05-10 | Elise Nadeau earned her B.F.A. with a concentration in photography from the School of Art and Design at the State University of New York at Purchase. Her work chronicles her experiences with the underground electronic dance music subculture. Her avid interest and fascination with the scene over the years sparked an interest to document it with her photos and has taken her to many places around the world such as Miami, Ibiza and Berlin. Ed has always enjoyed the creative process, using his free time to follow his passion to draw, paint, and install gallery shows in New York City.Growing up in Brooklyn, Ed developed a fascination with buildings. Inspired by high rise architecture as found in New York City, Ed would fill his sketch book with building exteriors. SM Galleries Interview with Kathrina Miccio SMGALLERIES 2014-05-09 | Kathrina Miccio is a painter, native New Yorker, and part time resident of Vico Equense, Italy where her family resides and goes often for inspiration. Miccio's background in the arts is a life-long study and love for the visual expression of feelings and ideas. She primarily works in oil, acrylic, and mixed media. Miccio holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, with a minor in Theater from Wagner College, New York.The Artist's work is in numerous private and corporate collections including those of, the late James Gandolfini Estate, Whoopi Goldberg, Andrea Bocelli, and The Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson. She has had many solo shows, including The National Arts Club NYC, is presently preparing for a solo show at The Fender Guitar showroom CA, and the new SM Galleries in Coney Island, NY. Miccio has a permanent installation in The Cutting Room NYC "The Faces of Music Collection II". 2001-present. Recently she was asked to paint a portrait of Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones since he was performing there where he voluntarily signed the back. Her Painting of Ray Charles was featured in Marc Bego's Book "The Biography of Billy Joel" and was asked to paint a portrait of Billy Joel when he performed there for a private show. She has also donated her time and paintings to raise money for The Breast Cancer Center, The Children's Hope Foundation benefit, "Spring for Art", and many other charities. SM Galleries Interview with Isabella Vlacci SMGALLERIES 2014-05-09 | Isabella Vlacci -- artist statement:Isabella Vlacci was born in Trieste, Italy and is now a Brooklyn based artist who primarily works in digital photography. She has photographed notable music artists such as the Raspberries, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bobby Womack and Gilby Clarke.Her works showcase the smaller details that a person might miss were they not closely looking. She also creates very personal (currently by commission only) one of a kind glass pendant jewelry. A graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology she holds a Bachelor of Fine Art Restoration degree. Her other titles include: writer, animal lover and loyal friend."For me, taking photos and capturing moments is like breathing.
