Doritos are one of the greatest mass-produced snacks in the world. They are crunchy, salty, full of flavor, and so damn addicting. But did you know the now world-famous tortilla chips were once nothing more than Disneyland’s waste, tossed away in the garbage can?
Starting from the bottom and climbing to the top, is something that many brands experience. But Doritos took it to a whole other level! While several people played an important role in the making of Doritos, no one had a bigger influence than Archibald Clark West. Born to Scottish immigrants in Indiana in 1914, Archibald had a tough childhood. After his father passed away, Arch’s mother was too poor to take care of him, so she made the heart-breaking decision to send him and his brother to an orphanage.
In a true American dream story, the young man eventually managed to rise above his dirt-poor roots when he was offered a scholarship to Franklin College. He graduated with a degree in business in 1936 and went on to serve in the navy during World War II.

![He Bought Louis Vuitton and turned LVMH into an Empire
Bernard Arnault is one of the richest men alive. Forbes has named him one of the worlds 100 greatest living business minds. And considering that he oversees a portfolio of over 70 brands and nearly 3,900 retail stores, that doesn’t seem to be an understatement.
As you can guess, amassing so many companies doesn’t happen without ruffling some feathers, though. And while Arnault was once a recluse who got his start in engineering and construction, he eventually made his fortune through brutal takeovers in a bid to collect as many luxury consumer brands as possible. Curious to find out how he turned LVMH into the empire that it is today and learn some useful business strategy lessons along the way? Then don’t miss this video!
