EPISODE 1 OF 2: Follow filmmaker Robin Danehav's perspective on a 1298 km road-trip and 19 km trek to Sweden’s tallest mountain Kebnekaise. This is the second trip for making a documentary about blanketing a glacier with wool to fight climate change— inspiring environmental action.
(Thanks to @rookiismedia for some of the shots of me in this one!)
What looks like a carefree summer hike is actually Day 1 of Glaciärfilten, an ambitious climate-manifestation where volunteers haul giant wool blankets up Björlings Glacier each year to slow its melt and visualise the pace of global warming. In this vlog episode, Swedish filmmaker Robin Danehav invites you into the raw, often messy reality behind his upcoming feature documentary about the project.
🟢 The Journey
• Overnight pack-fest in Stockholm; gear checks, last-minute doubts.
• 1 298 kilometres north by car beneath the midnight sun, chasing a mountain that refuses to wait.
• A lung-stretching 19 km hike from Nikkaluokta to Kebnekaise Mountain Station—the point where optimism meets rocky trail, swarms of mosquitoes and that first “what have I gotten myself into?” moment.
🟢 The Mission
Glaciärfilten (“The Glacier Blanket”) isn’t about saving one glacier—it’s a bold visual signal: if we can cover melting ice to buy time, imagine what we could do by cutting emissions. Over three field trips this season we’ll raise, stitch and later remove a 200 m² wool layer, measuring how much ice vanishes beneath it compared with exposed surfaces. Robin’s lens captures not just the science, but the human grit, humour and doubt that power grassroots climate solutions.
🟢 Why Watch
• Behind-the-scenes what it takes to make a film like this
• Authentic adventure vlog: zero macho posturing—just real stakes, blistering feet, and the stubborn hope that storytelling can spark change.
• Climate-action inspiration: see how an idea grew into a movement that draws hikers, scientists and brands committed to impact.
