The odds are that you take most screenshots on your Mac to show someone something or to briefly capture something else, not to build up a mass of image files. Try going to Settings, Keyboard, Keyboard Shortcuts and the Screenshots. In there, you can untick “Save picture of screen as a file” and instead tick “Copy picture of screen to the clipboard.” Then when you take a shot, it’s ready to paste into an email and isn’t taking up your storage.
