Looking to buy a new action camera or upgrade your current one? The Insta360 GO Ultra is here, and it's a game-changer. Featuring a revolutionary modular design, you can detach the tiny camera pod from the Action Pod and mount it in places you never thought possible. But how does this new contender stack up against Insta360's flagship, the Insta360 Ace Pro 2?
In this video, I put these two action camera powerhouses head-to-head. The Insta360 GO Ultra sports a 1/1.28" sensor, which is even slightly larger than the 1/1.3" sensor in the Insta360 Ace Pro 2. But does a larger sensor in the GO Ultra automatically translate to better image quality?
I hit the trails to find out, testing them vlog-style in a variety of conditions. I'll compare video quality in the normal color profile and a few others, looking for differences in color science, dynamic range, and overall image profile. Are they identical, or are there subtle differences that set them apart?
I also dive into a crucial element for any vlogger: audio. I'll be testing the built-in microphones to see if one delivers a clearer sound. And for the ultimate audio test, I've hooked them up to external mics—the DJI Mic 2 for the GO Ultra and the Insta360 Mic Air for the Ace Pro 2. You'll also learn about a strange discovery: why the GO Ultra doesn't currently support Insta360's own wireless mic.
