Is it dangerous for doctors to work 24 hours straight?

Over the past year I’ve been vlogging in the hospital and bringing you along for 26 hour call shifts. Many of you have been shocked and even concerned to learn that doctors work in these sleep deprived states. And I think that raises a really important question… would you want a doctor treating you or operating on you if they’ve been awake and working for 20 or 30 hours?

First let's look at other safety sensitive jobs (like pilots, truck drivers and railway engineers) and find out about their work hour regulations.

Then let's see what kind of hours residents work across the world - how does that compare to Canada where I'm working?
