If I'm being honest, when Depeche Mode was on the rise, I didn't like them at all. Being a drummer, this was the age of the synth-drum sound. I hated it. About 10 years later, however, I began listening to The Cure / Information Society / Alphaville / etc... And came to appreciate the music quite a bit. Now I get the best of both worlds! I get the great songwriting of the synth-bands of the eighties along with the sound of the 80's rock I loved!
