I know this may not be enoyable to listen to, at all even, but this is basically a documentation of how the daybreak riff evolved through the years, for me, daybreak is more than just a little melody I've composed, it's the first song I've made that actually felt like I was accomplishing something as a musician, something I'm proud of, and there's a little bit of daybreak in every song I make.
This is 5 minutes of only daybreak, I understand if it's not enjoyable to listen to, but I needed to document it, to show myself how much I've improved, right now I'm stagnant in my music production, feeling like I'm getting nowhere even if I am earning a little bit of cash, not enough to survive as my only job, but enough for me to buy little things, looking back at the first daybreak that didn't have a melody, just the chord progression down and then looking back at the newest with a booming orchestra, an amazing athmosphere (Sorry that I'm complimenting it so much), I just feel like I've grown, at least a little bit as a musician, composer and producer.
There is something to the daybreak melody, at this point it might as well be my leitmotif, hidden in every song I make, it's weird, the attachment I have to this little riff, but I find it can make me feel many things, for me, it sounds like an adventure, the beginning of a new day, full of energy, a daybreak, and some of it's iterations can sound a little nostalgic, melancholious even.
From first to last.
0:00 - Daybreak the 1st - Armed with a Laney Ironheart Studio amplificator, I had a way to record my guitar that wasn't with free amp vsts which at the time weren't that great, I just got ezdrummer and a bass, this was the first composed song I've ever recorded.
0:20 - DB3, named after the 3 part song I named 'Daybreak', don't worry about the other 2, this is really the only one that's good of them, you can hear the little melody finally being in place.
0:45 - DB3 5th, promptly named due to it's 5 lower semitones, added a new intro and I remember using a pitch shifter for my guitar because I didn't have a 7 string at the time and I wanted to play on low tunings like the cool kids.
1:12 - Daybreak (Daybreak EP demo) - My first attempt at making something like an album, also putting to work my new mixing techniques and synths, was extremely proud of myself for this one, and at the time I couldn't believe how good it sounded.
1:50 - Daybreak (Daybreak EP) - The actual one that made to the ep, it shines a lot more than the previous one, you can clearly see some small improvements in the mixing category, this was the shit
2:31 - Daybreak (Daybreak Album) - My first album release!, I dropped this whole 11-12 song album on spotify, amazon music and all places, and of course, it HAD to start with Daybreak, I felt like I had improved so much at the time and I couldn't just let the opportunity pass of releasing an album of the best songs I had made at the time, you can find it on almost every music site with my name and daybreak. In this one, the melody changes just a tiny bit in some parts.
3:31 - Daybreak (Andromeda Album demo) - Ah, Andromeda, an album that never came out, mostly because I thought it wasn't that good, the songs were okay, but this was very early into my adventures onto the synth territory, I was trying to make something more electronic, a bit more futuristic, I don't remember what my clear idea for this was, but I was incredibly proud of it too, listening to it now, eh, I don't like it as much, maybe because it's the one that strays the further from my original one.
3:53 - Daybreak ft. Cami Cat and Caleb Hyles - This one is the most different from all the daybreaks, this one has vocals!, this is the link for it youtube.com/watch?v=Fq4MoUMKOTE and right now has 500k+ views, I've known this singer for a long time and when they asked me to do some original songs together, I had to do daybreak knowing that more people were going to listen to it, I simply had to, I've always been a... Small artist with an extremely small fan base, and the thought of daybreak reaching possibly a million people was more than what I could wish for, I took a step back with how heavy it was and made it more... 'Melodic'?, I'm VERY proud of it still even if the mixing is subpar, but a lot of people got to hear it and many fell in love with it, needless to say, I'm more than happy.
4:25 - Daybreak (Cyberdjent Album) - This is the latest Daybreak I've done and the one that showcases my actual style, right now with my current skill, I don't think I can do something better than this and I'm extremely proud of it, armed with an actual 8 string guitar I feel like I can do a lot more than before, this iteration of daybreak was mostly done to showcase my new and improved style from the Andromeda album days, showing how much I've improved and changed since then, the little melody also changed a tiny bit.
