Washington, DC - David Gregory, Host of NBC's Meet the Press misrepresented the assassination attempt of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Tucson, Arizona as a non political event. Ironically, Gregory devoted the entirety of his political program hour to the non political event.
David Gregory was wrong to declare the carnage non political. Even n if this tragedy had happened in a vacuum, we knew from the early reports that a Democratic congresswoman was targeted at a publicized political event, and that the attempted assassination was by a gunman that walked through a crowd to specifically attack her, shooting her at close range in the head. Good journalism should be about facts not false equivalencies.
