This was quite the treat! We were headed down through southern Kentucky on the way to Pine Mountain State Resort Park, and I knew Barbourville had this rare 8 port Screamer. I called the city building beforehand, and they confirmed it went every day at noon. So I set up at about 11:55 and waited. Come noon, and not a peep. About five minutes later, I decide to take action. I walk into the police station portion of the city building, and ask whether or not the siren will be going off. They said they would hit the switch. A few minutes later, this beast roared to life. I have to say, this thing was quite punchy and would cover a good portion of the town. Definitely an awesome experience. I also enjoyed getting this due to the fact that there are not many siren videos from this area of Kentucky, or the country for that matter. Barbourville also has two Vortexes. Enjoy!
One more thing: I have a feeling many of you will dispute this being a 10 HP siren. I have both compared this siren's windup to other, newer S-10's and found this one to match or even wind up faster, and have also talked to a reliable source who confirmed it as being a 10 HP model.
Knox County has at least one city-level system, Barbourville, and they test along with the Kentucky Statewide Tornado Drill.
