V busy with uni, map parts, all that jazz!!HERE IT IS - my first proper show off of my Cat OCs (I lied they're not really Warriors OCs, but they were at one point lksdgkl!) that I've been working on for 10 years now! Gosh i can't believe how time has flown.---This little PMV centres on Our Babylon's antagonist, King, formerly known as Fang, and his rocky relationships with his father, Byron, and his own daughter, Matilda. It all goes well beyond even Byron. He was merely another byproduct, nonetheless completely irredeemable. He was one of the five leading cats in the stray's patriarchy, and arguably the most important member. Such burdens brought about expectations, frustrations -- shackles he would burden his family with.After one particularly nasty argument with his wife, Amelia, after she dragged him away from the kits he was brutally chastising for sneaking around after bedtime, he lashed out and struck her, as he had done many times before. Only this time, Amelia lost her balance and struck her head on the wall, causing a bleed in her skull that killed her instantly. Byron refused to ever carry the blame of her death, but King and his sister Heir knew what he had done, what he was lying about to his subjects. King's resentment for his father would eat away at him, long into his adulthood, his anger allowed to flourish into something more sinister, rebirthing his once antisocial temperament into the wrath of a tyrant. King would see to it that the five founding cats were executed under the cover of darkness, his father personally dealt with. Only one original leader would survive by a mere stroke of luck: Robert. His life was later spared under the request of King's wife, Natasha, who insisted her brother was no longer of any threat... much too old, and powerless without his fellow founders. King found it to be a rather amusing explanation. At the birth of his own daughter, Matilda, King showed relative indifference, a cold detachment to contrast his father's controlling aggression. Natasha would not protest, her older body near completely drained of strength from the single kit she bore. The child was soon forgotten for the sake of Natasha looking after herself, building up her strength again. Just what would become of their daughter? Surely a fate similar to the cats that preceded her? Alas, her saving grace would come in the unlikely form of her uncle, Robert, of her mother's kin. Ironically, Robert was notorious for this distant and grouchy demeanour -- even worsened under his newfound imprisonment. For his niece, however, the old tom would show nothing but unconditional love, taking up the role of her 'nanny' following his imprisonment under King's usurpation. So, Mapleshade starts trying to visit Nightcloud in secret, bringing her rotting flower from the Dark Forest (the only gifts she can manage to find.) Nightcloud is absolutely swooned by Mapleshade's awkwardness and star-struck look every time she's around her. Finally, she feels like she is truly loved, and soon she feels herself able to seperate herself from her co-dependence on Crowfeather, the two parting on surpisingly good terms (Crowfeather has NO idea what has gotten into Nightcloud but he's just grateful to revert to friendship with her while the two look after their son) and Nightcloud pursues a proper relationship with Mapleshade. When Breezepelt ends up being brought to the Dark Forest by Brokenstar, Mapleshade acts as a silent guardian for the young tom, standing up for him when the other warriors threaten him or get too rough, even going so far as to attempt to dissuade him from sticking around... and telling him that it would make his mother upset if she were to find out.Characters: Nightcloud, Mapleshade.Host: @almondsun

Blackfoot especially found Stonefur's affection to be a welcome contrast to his rougher upbringing, and finds himself completely forgetting the anger and conflict that plagues him when in his presence. Of course, Blackfoot is Blackfoot, and he still is willing to dish out the rough treatment that Brokenstar orders of him. Shadowclan raids Thunderclan's camp to steal their kits, and elderly Rosetail is murdered by Blackfoot with little struggle before he steals the kits. Stonefur finds out about this indirectly [ Fireheart tells Mistyfoot, who passes on the knowledge to her brother. ] Stonefur confronts Blackfoot about this, utterly outraged and devastated that his partner would not only murder an elder, but steal frighten kits from their home. Blackfoot is taken aback by the confrontation, and has little to say for himself to Stonefur's demands. With that, their relationship ends, Stonefur leaving Blackfoot for good as he goes on to try distract himself with his mentorship, warrior duties, and climbing the ladder towards being Riverclan's deputy. All at once, Blackfoot's anger and despair comes crashing down on him again without the companionship, and as Tigerstar becomes leader of Shadowclan, Blackfoot's bullying nature has only become worse. The events of Bone Hill happen, Stonefur defies Tigerstar, and Darkstripe and Blackfoot take the weakened warrior down and execute him. Blackfoot doesn't think twice about this at first, assuring himself "Stonefur chose his loyalties to his clan over him, and he had only done the same."It is only after Blackfoot witnesses the murder of Gorsepaw by Tigerstar's claws, as he is ordered to block Morningflower from her son, that Blackfoot begins to pause and reflect. The murder of the innocent apprentice sends his mind back to the memory of his nephew, Bagerfang, being killed in a battle he led under Brokenstar's orders: the death that pushed Blackfoot's siblings Flintfang and Fernshade further away from him and their tyrannical leader. All at once, his guilt for Stonefur, Rosetail and Gorsepaw's deaths begin to weigh down on him, nightmares plaguing him all the way into his leadership. He meets with Stonefur and Rosetail's ghosts once during his leadership ceremony, with Rosetail utterly unable to look at him. Stonefur appears to share her sentiment, but is visibly conflicted when he sees how deeply the guilt is impacting on Blackstar. He sees the cat he once knew, tormented by his temper, his isolation, his crimes... his guilt.Stonefur essentially at this point takes on a similar role that Spottedleaf does for Firestar and Leafpool, but is less intimate and gentle. He has no intention of carrying Blackstar to his redemption, but rather he is there to remind him to leave his nest on his darkest days, to eat when he finds himself lost in his painful recollections."How can you expect me to forgive you if you cannot forgive yourself?"Blackstar's greatest obstacle arrives when Sol meets him and Shadowclan. The two briefly dabble in the shallows of dating, with Blackstar hopeful that he can finally achieve some sort of peace with Sol as his partner. Alas, his hopes unravel as Sol's true nature is revealed, pushing Blackstar in his vulnerable state to abandon Starclan, to deny clan customs, and give away his way of life as Sol rises to power in Shadowclan. I do not judge people who hate him for who he is and what he's done, nor do I challenge fans who adore and forgive him for his dawdling attempts to put what's left of his vigorous spirit into the good of healing his clan. It's what makes him so interesting to me, a truly morally gray character who was there since the beginning and was forced to act and change throughout the series. Going from a hot-blooded, impulsive and violent warrior, to a reclusive, abrasive but determined leader would force a lot of self reflection upon him in the meantime, behind the scenes that Shadowclan always seems to dwell. I haven't read his new novella, but from what i've seen I would have preferred if Stonefur was more willing to give him one of his lives, more intentional about it. Because what is the point in empowering someone who took your life if you cannot truly forgive them or see the good in the act? Perhaps Stonefur did see it that way, that he too is still healing, but it wasn't written clearly, and is an interaction that left me yearning for more of their conflicting, fractured relationship.ANYWAYS More MGSV OST PMVs babey!!!
