We Give Up! Things are not what they used to be! Home Theatre Engineering 2024-02-13 | After taking January off as they do, Andrew and Enzo kick off another year at HTE, or do they?It seems They Give Up! Things just aren't the way they used to be!What does this all mean? Well the main issue here is that people are turning more and more to channels with high follower counts instead of to people with true expertise. This means poor outcomes for customers, bad advice, money spent on the wrong equipment and poorly or non calibrated systems that customers are either not happy with or think is they best they can get!Always seek out professionals with knowledge tools, experience and a track record. If something seems to good to be true - it probably is.. true performance takes time, expertise and investment to whatever level you are comfortable with. Just because someone has a lot of followers is not in indication of qualifications nor expertise or experience.That said, we wish everyone a great 2024

Trinnov - An important firmware update for 2022 Home Theatre Engineering 2022-12-21 | Recently Trinnov released a new firmware update and, while it introduced some nice features like a built in HDMI cable tester there were some pleasant surprises.Buried in the fine print was a big fix for problems that we believe have been niggling systems for some time.Now after applying this firmware update a number of issues clients have experienced have magically vanished.Thank you Trinnov :-)

A Spirited Interview with the Supervising Sound Editor for Spirited, Unbroken, Ironman 3 and more Home Theatre Engineering 2022-11-22 | We released this interview a few days ago but I was not happy with the audio. 1 camera and 1 mic had failed and there was a LOT of background noise so I decided to pull the first version and wait until I could better process the audio and re-release this. I felt it deserved that.Whilst in Carson City Nevada USA last week (Nov 2022) I had the extreme pleasure to meet and talk with Andrew DeCristofaro who as the title says is the Supervising Sound Editor for feature films such as Spirited, Unbroken, Iron Man 3, Green Book and many more.Andrew is an absolute gentlemen and truly passionate about his work and here he shares and talks about his love for his craft and shares that he wishes everyone could hear all the detail that goes into the soundtracks. In a separate session that I couldn't record Andrew showed us how a soundtrack is created and explained that some tracks can have up to 800 separate tracks or stems and then built up an example in front of our eyes.I want to thank Andrew personally for making time early in the morning to sit down with me and have this conversation.
