Dark, mysterious shadows seem to condense into forms of city citizens, and they're not few. These vaporous villains have one goal and one goal only: to take out the originals they copy and make way for their reign of shadow.Many heroes and civilians alike have been swallowed by the shadows, and few remain. Some have cowered in fear, but four brave souls have stepped up to make one last stand: Fenniquit, Paint, Kitsune, and Impulse. Where Do I Belong? || Selkie Animatic [#MayrapterianDTA] Sadie & Biel 2023-05-23 | Since the due date was pushed off and I had a burst of insanity, I have made you all ✨content✨And WOW LOOK AT THAT I did in fact develop more lore even though I said I wouldn’t (…I should stop saying stuff like that)So here’s the deal: Selkie used to live with a bunch of other deep sea Rapterians until they were all hunted, at least that’s what I said last entry. BUT WAIT, THERES MORE… The humans have a hard time reaching the deep sea, so the Rapterians there SHOULD have been safe. But a shark Rapterian named Fyn (yes original I know) who was friends with Selkie made a deal with the humans because he swam too close to the shallows and was captured. In return for freedom he told the humans he could trick all the deep sea Rapterians into getting captured by the humans. Selkie could see that his aura was darker and questioned him about it but he didn’t really answer her. Because of this, Selkie was suspicious, and she told her other two friends Cléo and Aggie (coelacanth and anglerfish Rapterians respectively) to watch out for him. This caused a rift between the four’s friendship as Cléo and Angie stopped talking to Fyn and Fyn blamed Selkie. Despite Selkie’s warnings, Cléo and Aggie were caught in Fyn’s trap and taken away. Unfortunately for Fyn the humans didn’t keep their promise and captured him too. Selkie was the only one too escape, and has been mourning the loss of her friends ever since. She doesn’t know if they’re alive but presumes they’re dead.Later some Rapterians get shipwrecked and Selkie saves them. They tell her about Sakura but she is skeptical. She is afraid of leaving the water because if she does she can’t use her echolocation and has no idea what’s around her unless the auras show there’s a Rapterian. She leaves the sailors and goes back to the depths. After a long time the loneliness really starts getting to her. She remembers Sakura and decides to try to find it, but she has to be careful not to get caught by humans.Selkie happens to leave on the night of a full moon. Some Rapterians see her in the sky and decide to go look for her to help her avoid the humans and get to Sakura safely.Because some Rapterians see her in the sky during the full moon, and she is a legend to them, many Rapterians tell stories about her and draw pictures. One frame of the animatic is a Rapterian telling the story of how Selkie was seen one full moon. Another frame shows a Rapterian painting her. Another one shows a Rapterian reading a book about her called “The Last Empress”. Sixth Dimension [meme] || #MayrapterianDTA Sadie & Biel 2023-05-08 | Another entry for @emmikoo5404's #MayrapterianDTA! I did a swim cycle for Selkie and decided to use it for an animation meme. The first part shows her swimming in the deep ocean. I decided to make the turquoise parts of her (eyes, ears, fins) glow because a lot of deep sea creatures have luminescence and I thought it would look cool! The second part shows how the auras look to Selkie. I was thinking that the color of the aura would match the eye color of the Rapterian it belongs to. The auras shown are of average Rapterians: they're not saints but they're also not evil. The better the Rapterian is, the brighter and lighter the color. The worse they are, the darker and duller the color. Also, Selkie can't see her own aura.I had an idea that there used to be a group of Rapterians living in the deep ocean that are based off of like deep sea/ancient looking fish like the coelacanth, and all of them were either blind or have very bad sight. A lot of them glowed too. But most of them died off or got caught by the hunters. What the Heck is a Rapterian?? || #MayrapterianDTA Sadie & Biel 2023-05-03 | Hey y'all, it's Sadie (Ari/Briar/etc)! Today I'm participating in the #MayrapterianDTA by @emmikoo5404 ! You can find the DTA call here: youtube.com/watch?v=bYm4kepNIYUThe idea for the DTA was to come up with a backstory and bio for one of the five characters in the video, and I picked the Koi Aquatic Rapterian! I referenced both the original drawing and Toothless from HTTYD for my drawing of this Rapterian. So, without further ado, let's get into the backstory I came up with!I decided to name the character Selkie! I noticed that of the five options, she was the only one with white pupils, which gave me the idea to make her blind. Because she's blind, she has a better sense of hearing than other Rapterians (which is already very good!). While most Rapterians live in Sakura, I decided that Selkie lives in the human world. "Is that allowed?" you might ask. Idk, but just hear me out: On the Rapterian Species' web page, it says "Aquatic rapterians used to roam the oceans but mysteriously disappeared." I presume this was due to humans hunting them to get rid of them. But Selkie lives very deep in the ocean where humans haven't discovered very much, which is how she escaped being hunted. This also explains why she is blind (many deep sea creatures are blind because there's no need to be able to see since there's no light, and some don't even have eyes!).Selkie's powers are that she is able to see other Rapterians' auras, and that she can communicate with Guardian Angels (Rapterians that have died but have chosen to stay in Sakura to watch over and protect their loved ones instead of going to the Light Forest). She can't communicate with Rapterians in the Corruption or Light Forests unless they come to the living realm (for example, if a Rapterian leaves the Corruption Forest to play a trick on a living Rapterian, Selkie can communicate with them and make them stop). She can't communicate across realms, only if the soul of the Rapterian is nearby (almost as if they were still alive but just invisible). Auras are colors of light that Selkie can see when a Rapterian is talking. The darker the color, the more the Rapterian is headed down a bad path and will go to the Corruption Forest when they die. The lighter the color, the more the Rapterian is headed down the right path and will end up in the Light Forest when they die. Selkie can tell if a Rapterian who presents themselves as good has malicious intentions with this power, for example.Selkie has been alive for hundreds of years, but still appears young. For this reason, and due to her powers, the other Rapterians view her as almost a goddess, but she is really just a mortal. Some Rapterians think she is only a myth since no one has seen her in person. However, some Rapterians claim to have seen her during the Ocean Skies at the full moon.I don't intend on making much more backstory for her unless I win the DTA because I'd like to work more closely with Emmikoo to better integrate Selkie into the Rapterian universe and lore. It would also be helpful to have her backstory fit into other Rapterian's stories.That's all for now! A Sadness Runs Through Him Multifandom MAP Part 9 [Complete] Sadie & Biel 2020-07-18 | Mk so *supposedly* I swore off MAP parts, and yet here we are again..This one was really fun though. I've wanted to be in a multifandom MAP ever since I saw Owlspark's part for Goodbye to a World, and I thought this song fit pretty well with the character I wanted to use, so that's how this happened. I think this is my favorite map part that I've doneThe fandom I chose is Amulet, which is a graphic novel series by Kazu Kibuishi. If you haven't read it, I HIGHLY recommend it. Even if you aren't into fantasy kinda stuff, the backgrounds in this thing are freaking AMAZING so it's totally worth it to pick it up even if it's just for the art.The character that I used is Trellis (yes, he's my favorite out of the characters in the series lol), and I based this part off of a part in book 5 where he meets his younger self in his memories (except he doesn't know it's him until it's explicitly pointed out to him lol)I really tried to draw in the same style as Kazu Kibuishi, and I think I pretty much succeeded with the characters (except for the pen I used for the outline doesn't look right, but whatever) but the backgrounds kinda fell short because I legit have no idea how he does it.
